Grrrrrrr Vodafone!

I'm so annoyed at Vodafone! I've been planning to leave them for months - my Samsung contract phone broke 12 months into my 18 month contract and I've been counting the days...
I signed my most recent 18-month contract on 24th March 2008. From the wording on the contract, I think that this contract supersedes any contract I had before - even though I was coming out of my previous contract a couple of months early to upgrade my phone.
Anyway, I thought my contract was up on 24th September 2009, but have now been told (upon Vodafone providing my PAC code) that if I port out before 5th November 2009, I'll have to pay charges up to that date.
I have emailed them several times and got nowhere and finally called them today, only to be told (by a phone company) that I needed to go in person to a store to discuss it with them.
Has anyone else had trouble with this? I can't wait to be free of them as I've had enough! Grrrr!

Sounds like you upgraded 2 month early so the new contract you went into extendeds the one you had so if you go into another 18 month contract and upgrade early you really have a 20 month contract.0
-
I think that's what they're going to say, but it doesn't say anywhere on the contract, which is why I thought (and think) that legally this contract replaces the previous one.0

You should have been told by the agent who did the upgrade with you its in the script, ask for the call to be listined to for proof they never told you.0

I upgraded in-store and they never mentioned it.0

Just been in person to the store and was told that they couldn't do anything by a very rude young man who called me a liar!
I then spoke to the manager who was very helpful and said that if I went into the store once I was charged for the final 2 months, he would credit them back. He's the nicest person I've spoken to on the phone, email, or in person from Vodafone - they should employ more like him!0 -
If you upgrade two months before your contract termination date, those remaining months are added onto your new contract.
The original contract commitment was 18 months, not 16 months.
Its the same for all the networks, you honour the entire commitment.0 -
So I hear, but I wasn't told about this, nor did it state this anywhere in the contract. I signed an 18 month contract - as far as I was concerned, that was for 18 months, not 20. I think it's sorted now anyway.0

What do you think happens to the remaining months? Do you think they just vanish into thin air?0

i understand where your coming from, you did sign an 18 month contract not a 20 month but you had also signed an 18 month contract 16 months before this so the 2 months need to get paid for somewhere. As a rule i always wait, no matter how much i want a new phone, until my contract term is up before upgrading as then you do not get caught out with stuff like this and you will normally get a lot better deal when you threaten to leave that if you upgrade early0

I must admit, I've never really thought about it before myself. Mind you, I can't really ever remember renewing before my contract was up anyway, I usually do it a month or 2 after, particularly if a phone I want is coming out a few months after my contract is up.
Both with T-Mobile and O2, the end of contact date is shown on your online account. My 18 month contract end date is shown on my O2 online account as February, I see no point in me upgrading or renewing a month or 2 before even if they offer it.0
