In Control Panel - Network Connections, right-click Local Area Connection and click Properties. In the 'Connection uses the following items' list, double-click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP). On General tab, select 'Obtain an IP address automatically' and 'Obtain DNS Server address automatically'. Click OK all the way out.
  • already done that aswell

In Network Connections, try disabling your network adapter and reenabling it.

    do a

    ipconfig /release
    ipconfig /renew

    ping routeripaddress 192.168.0.1 or 1.1 or 2.1

if it pings ok, you are talking to the router, so you have either set a manual ip, or dhcp is working.

if it is working, and https://www.google.com doesn't, try this:

    http://216.239.37.104/
    and this
    ping 216.239.37.104

post model of router, ISP, adsl/cable?, country (I have my reasons!), and ipconfig /all output if it doesn't

also, post the details in the connections screen in IE. (Tools/internet options/connections)

have you changed any of the mac address or ip settings on the router?
Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?
