anybody got the best combo for doing this, ive read around, looked at a few programs and some look stupidly complicated and others dont work
so have you got programs that are relitivly simple to use and work for
Reading and ripping the bluray disc to my hdd
Then shrinking the file to dvd size
Then to rip to dvd (if the above results in .vob etc then i shall just use imgburn)
any recommendations, i cant really be bothered to rip audio streams and video stream separately and have to calculate what bitrates i want in order for them to fit just to converts a home movie into dvd format.

It's probably easier to just buy it on DVD for a few pounds on eBay.0

You'll need to find something capable or ripping blueray to disk and I can't help with that.
Once extracted ConvertXtoDVD is capable of making a DVD which will play in a standard DVD player from most video files. You'll obviously lose quality though so the exercise seems a bit pointless.0 -
i probably poorley explained
im converting some hd footage off a camera(home videos etc) that is burnt to bluray (the only copy of said videos) and a relative wants copys of some and only has a dvd player, so i need to rip the files of the bluray downsize it to the correct size preferably in vob and then ill use imgburn to burn the .vob's onto a blank dvd
either that or an all in one program
so nothing illegal, just something ive never done beforeBack by no demand whatsoever.0 -

I don't know. What kind of files are on the disc?0

dont know, ill have a look but it can only be a choice of mpeg-2, vc-1 and m-peg 4 avc surely so isnt there one that rips all three and another to convert ito whatever needed
i assume the mpeg-2 codecs need merely shrinking and theyre set to go on dvd?Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -
Not exactly - take a look at the Wikipedia articles on DVD-Video and MPEG-2 for starters!4743hudsonj wrote: »i assume the mpeg-2 codecs need merely shrinking and theyre set to go on dvd?
Now, what exactly did you record the video with?0 -
As far as I know there are no all-in-one backup solutions such as ConvertXtoDVD available for blu-ray (yet).
I've converted mine to DVD but it's something of an arcane art involving a suite of separate programs including indexers, frameservers, video and audio transcoders, muxers...
definately not something for beginners.Blessed are the geeks, for they shall inherit the Internet.0
