Plustek Slide Scanner

I tried using this "Plustek Opticfilm 7200 slide scanner forums" without quotation marks in various search engines ie Bing , leapfish, ukcrawler as well as google and was interested to read user reviews. It seems a number of people initially had problems, but they were resolved. Untill I've checked to see what make I have, you might find reading some of those reports from users, could throw an answer. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. and the bad news is..........................
mine is this model http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=225878 quite a cheapie by comparison. I know people that had hiccups with this, getting the correct of exposure etc so that they weren't too white and only trial and error resolved it.
The thing is with bringing negatives/slide back to life, is whatever state the pictures come out, they're better than not seeing them again ever. Some of mine are 40 yrs old and look distinctly watery, but at least I'm seing them.

I've got this scanner. What disks did you get with it? You should have a scanner driver (which you need to install before you plug the scanner in). Also you should have a copy of Silverfast SE (with a serial number/key) to do the actual scanning (this has a standalone program and also a TWAIN driver to interface with photo editors).
If someone else has already registered Silverfast you may have a problem getting this to work.
I have it all intalled on 2 machines (XP and Vista), The XP machine I'm looking at at the moment has the icon with the cross through it because it's not plugged in, but it works fine when it is.
This is a fairly decent scanner and is worth persevering with. It's good with negatives and B+W, not so brilliant with slides although thats the fault of Silverfast, Vuescan (the 'other' film scanning software) does a lot better job with slides.
Keep us informed what's going on.Out on blue six..

Thanks SP
I have the above software and have also downloaded up to date versions and still it isn't working. No problem with the S/n for Silverfast. I was recommended Vuescan too and I have downloaded this. I have even tried plugging into a different usb port in case that was the problem. I will, as you suggest, persevere!

Did you know about http://forum.silverfast.com/
It may be worth putting your problem on there.
The other thing that occured to me is that tray Icon only deals with the 2 buttons on the front of the scanner, it should still scan under Silverfast control if the icon is tuned off.Out on blue six..

Thanks again. Will try the forum. Neither Silverfast or Vuescan are recognising the scanner.
