WHOA!! What have I started!?? Honestly, this is just a casual enquiry to begin with.........
I have to say, that I believe in the work the Police do, but it must be said that the laws (not the police) get very misguided along the way. Who am I to say what's right or wrong?
It must be said that it's clear to see where public opinion of the Police comes from when yobs get away with mugging old ladies for £1 and a Chief Constable gets off with speeding, caught on speed camera, by standing up in court and saying he didn't know exactly who was driving at the time (must remember that one if the time comes).
Anyway, rant over. Somebody mentioned an article in the Sheffield Star. I have tried a search of thier website, came up with a lot but no actual piece on veg oil/diesel. Could you give me a clue as to the month?"Excuse me, this expires today, will you be reducing it?"0 -
Check out https://www.bio-power.co.uk to find your local vendor of bio-diesel. For a DERV substitute (for a diesel car) you're looking at 70-75p per litre! Fab!
Don't be put off by reports that it melts rubber hoses - whilst that is true, very few modern cars actually have rubber hoses anymore (they became too expensive to produce), check with your local garage or mechanic if you're worried.
Please note however that the government is not being very helpful with some proposed legislation which will put an additional unfair tax on biodiesel made from recycled oil & put it under the heading of "waste disposal" which will make it uneconomical to produce.
The web site above has an article explaining how you can help lobby the government to stop this happening. WE WANT CHEAP FUEL!!! And if it's environmentally sound, all the better!

It doesn't matter if the used vegetable oil is 'free'.
Tax on fuel is comprised of two elements.
A fixed amount of duty. (Not sure of exact price, but it isn't cheap).
VAT on the price including duty.
So assuming oil is 'free'.
Duty of (approx) 40p per litre.
VAT on top, giving a cost of 47p you owe the taxman for every litre you use.
If you didn't pay this, then when you are caught you will owe back tax, plus up to 100% penalty, plus interest.
And customs & excise will quite happily destroy your life to get it.
Never, ever, mess with customs & excise.0
