Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd August - What small DFW things have you done this week

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important
:j

Morning All – up bright and early as I am going to London with my Mum for the day.

We are going to the O2 to see the Body world (works?) exhibition….some people I have mentioned it to say eeeurgh, what are you going to that for, and others say, WOW, have fun.

Hello to everyone who posts today. Hugs to those that need them.

Today I have/will:
• Buy bargain £10 return tickets on local railway (ticket + travelcard = £16ish rather than £22.70 for a combined tix – normal fare)
• Bought my ticket for exhibition at ½ price – need to show train ticket
• Spend cash rather than card
• When I am home read up on yesterday’s forum

Um, think that is about it….I will take a bottle of water with me rather than buying one, then that is about it, sorry, I know that I should do more today, but I need to have a non DFW day :o

Anyhow, have a great day everyone

Candy xxxx

Debts at the start of my journey - about £23,000 lightbulb moment 01.03.2007 (1st payment to CCCS)..Debt Free Date 25.06.2013 Deposit savings £17,000/£30,000

Hi everyone - Candy - have a fab day out. You deserve a treat and it sounds like you have all the DFW angles covered for buying your tickets etc!

Quick one from me as I am supposed to be packing. Off to the Isle of Wight for a week later :jThis is a frugal holiday so I refuse to feel guilty!

    1) Holiday paid mostly for by Tesco deals.
    2) Nearby so little petrol.
    3) Used 20% off code for ferry and paid for it with proceeds from things I have sold.
    4) Will use Walkers crisps points for free outings to NT properties.
    5) Will use our English Heritage membership ( courtesy of Tesco CC) for more free days out.
    6) Have £90 worth of Tesco tokens cashed for entry to other places (including the Steam Railway. Heaven for little T!)
    7) Are taking lots of cheap stuff from Approved Food over for picnics etc as we are going self-catering.

    Have I justified myself yet?

    Have a great week all, L x:wave:

    • Catch up with emails done
    • Check online banking done

    • Discuss Monday with OH as I have stupidly organised a delivery when I am not going to be in - phone mum to see if she is available to wait in. done All sorted mum to the rescue again
    • Spend time with DS and DH done
    • Look into making a 101 list - been inspired by some blogs I had a look at earlier.
    • Count loose change - get it ready to pay into the bank
I think that is everything for day, as I have a couple of big jobs on it.
I have changed my list slightly for today as I have been inspired by other posts I have been reading - Thanks Everyone.
I am aiming to be debt free by the time I am 30 (May 2010)
