Hi bitsy:j
Glad your holiday went well this time after the last disaster;).
Hope the evil weevils get sorted......they sound disgusting:p0 -
Hiya all *waves*
Thanks for the welcome Diva, I am rather envious of your pasties. They are so neat! I'm also very jealous of your pepper plants, Colin (my pepper plant) is looking a little scrawny. I might repot him in a huge pot and see if that helps.
Penny - I hope you're feeling better. I'm back on a designated flu ward today and the people we've seen come in is surprising, I'm not used to seeing young and otherwise healthy people getting flu but obviously, I really only see people with complications. My mum (who works on the anti-viral points) has said that anyone losing weight is underestimating the power of chip butties. :rotfl: Obviously, she's missing the point of being unable to eat them but the thought is there.
We have some sun again today - we got some yesterday afternoon. It seems whenever there is sun suitable for me to tend to my plants and tan, I am in work. I'd sulk but I get my last contracted day (maybe even Thursday afternnon too) off because I have so much toil but anyway, I'm busy plotting my trip to Lakeland in Liverpool to get my remoska! Oooh, the excitement.
Is it overkill to get the grande for two adults? I was thinking that the grande would just be good sense, at least then I always have enough space.
Right, off to work I go. With a sandwich Mr Maitane has made me.. hee hee.
Have a lovely day everyone!"We always find something, hey Didi, to give us the impression we exist?" Samuel Beckett, Waiting for Godot.

Hi everyone
Belated birthday wishes Catznine :bdaycake:
Woke up at silly o'clock yesterday (only a little better today) but felt jaded yesterday, and hand the monk on with myself IFYKWIM, so decided it was better not to post in that mood. Bounced out of it today, my downers never last very long, chocolate seems to help me:D;)
Think I am panicking a bit at the surprise party for DH's 60th on Thursday, and not a cake made yet, may have to purchase one at this rate, never mind one way or another I will sort everything out even if I have to resort to a little white lying to keep him at home while I am shopping.:A
Smokybabe - I think the way to deal with old sealer, is to cut it with a stanley knife, and then scrape it off, then wiping it with white spirit before putting new in, remember to wet your finger before rubbing it over to push it in and seal it to both surfaces.;)
Pen-pin - sorry to hear of the weight loss, whenever I get out of sorts I alway tend to eat my way out of it:o:eek: Hope you get your appetite back soon, I'd willing send you a stone or 4 if it were only possible.:D
Just had a thought to use up one of the Bacon Grill tins I found at the back of the cupboard, maybe make some Bacon, Egg, Tomato and Potato Pasties, what do you think, would that work with HB eggs and just the flesh not the juice of fresh Tomatoes??
Welcome newbies :hello: Have a great time those of you off on your hols. everyone.
Be good DG
p.s. BTW if you notice a strange name on your FB I have taken the plunge and put my name on there instead of DG.Member #8 of the SKI-ers Club
Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
Noahspennilessmummy - we did go and visit her grave as well, and look round the church. Her memorial is quite impressive. I didn't know anything about her until this visit, although my DD (age 10) has apparently learnt about her at school recently, so was very interesting for her as well.
Penpin - sorry to hear you're even more unwell than usual, its the last thing you need. As someone else offered, I only wish I could send you some of my weight, as I have plenty to spare!!!
Having a very lazy day today (bit like yesterday). Am feeling very hormonal and in a bad mood (due on today), plus have an almighty bruise on my leg that is throbbing, after walking into the end of my DD'd bed last night in the dark.
Hopefully I will cheer up tonight, as kids are off to stay with the in-laws, and my friend is taking me out for an Indian as a thank you for getting her addicted to money off coupons and giving her a large part of my stash from the Good Food Show! I save an awful lot of money in tesco by using them, and have got her into it as well!
Anyway, am waffling now. Enjoy the rest of the day everyone.0 -
Hi everyone :hello:
Haven't been around much since my hospital visit (thanks for thinking of me and the good wishes pms Aussie and Churchie)
Quite a busy week here. The girls went back to school on Wednesday so Weds and Thurs were spent clearing the backlog of paperwork in the office. I gave myself the day off yesterday and sorted the garden. Dug up another load of spuds, moved the celeriac, sowed my winter salads and pulled out the peas that have finished. It looks so much tidier and is now ready for the winter veg to go in. Also picked some carrots and turnips to have with our roast tommorrow.
Have had a week of leftovers as I cooked too much spag bol last week so it has done two meals and one lunch. A Jamie Oliver dish of chicken thighs and roast veg also did two nights and the stock made for the chicken bones went towards some chicken and sweetcorn soup which has also done 2 lunches for 4 people.
Have been keeping on top of the baking too for the girls' lunchboxes.... making a batch and freezing half each time to eke it out.
Made 12 strawberry cheesecake muffins, 12 blueberry muffins, a lemon drizzle cake and 2 seeded loaves this morning. I'm having a slice of the cake now with my coffee and the rest is being demolished by the girls and 3 of their friends in their "cafe" in the garden
HM burgers and chips for tea in front of the xfactor tonight at the family's request so an easy tea.
Off to hang out another load of washing.
Take care everyone
Haribo x
ps belated happy birthday to Catznine :beer:0 -
I've been muffin making too Haribo;) 24 apricot and coconut crumble muffins (leftover crumble mix sprinkled on top before baking).
I've also made a jug of stock from the duck giblets, me and OH shared the liver at lunch -yummy. I shall use the stock for tomorrow's tea of braised lentils, duck and sausages.
I've made damson chutney, damson puree and a bottle of hot and sour damson dipping sauce (River Cottage Year).
I also have some blackberry and apple stewed ready for tonight's cobbler and a duck in the oven.
The oven and hob have been on nearly all day -dread to think how much fuel I'm using.
Still enjoying the cricket:D:j0 -

:hello:Good afternoon/evening! It's ended up quite sunny now, but DH has been mowing the lawn while it's been cloudy so as not to get too hot. He bought a new blade for the mower last week, but couldn't get the old one off
He's put plenty of oil on it and hopefully will be able to change the blade tomorrow...in the meantime at least the grass is shorter even if a bit chewed-up looking!
i spent some time out the front - DS had stripped most of the many layers of paint off the outside window ledges, but hadn't thought to put down dust sheets or anything, so when we came back from hols at end of June there was a layer of mixed paint and stripper more or less glued to the concrete and the tiled front steps. i didn't realise it was stuck there until i went to sweep it up  but haven't really been up to doing anything about it, and DS has been too busy. So today I thought I'd see if a metal spatula would do the trick now the stuff's been rained on and dried a few times. Well, it worked a treat:jI've managed to clear one side and hopefully will manage to do the other side tomorrow, then if it doesn't rain I'll hoover the dusty bits up. Really pleased my idea worked!
Penny_Pincher - Sorry you still feel so rough, you've done well to eat anything at all, i think! Hope you and DD get better soon xx
Haribo Junkie - I did think of you, but wasn't up to posting at the time....Hope you feel better soon and that the girls didn't mind going back to school.
N9eav - Great news about Zeus  Hope you track down the others too
donny-gal -Glad you feel better today.
ladyshopper - Your poor leg! I can sympathise as i regularly manage to bash mine on the blanket box in our bedroom
NPM, (((HUGS))) thinking of you! Not long now.
Bitsy beans - Glad you enjoyed your holiday!
Dinner tonight is HM chicken curry from the freezer - luckily i remembered to take it out!0 -
Hi everyone,
At last I am getting my car back on Monday, now we will have to arrange the insurance check.
Kitterns were out for a runaround yesterday evening, they love climbing trees and hiding in the pampas grass....unfortunately only Sile came home, there has been no sign of Thunder all day, so we are all feeling a bit sad on that score, as I feel he may have run off and got into trouble, think he is a bit too young to find his way home, Sile is finding it difficult to cope without him being around and I could cry if I let myself!
Got a nice grey trousers for €26 in a Monsoon sail, plus a sun-dress that fits for only a fiver...will leave it in Sardinia so that I will have even less luggage to bring home...am a light packer anyway.
Dinner tonight was homemade burgers with broccoli and potatoes, pudding was apples.
Sleep well all, hugs to all in need or want.
