That's poor! Those gaps should not be there! The ventilation is in the top facia covering the central beam, if you get on a ladder and peer behind it you'll see the vents. They are channels that double back on themselves to allow air movement to a degree but prevent drafts and creepy crawly dwellings!

For a very good conservatory forum with real experts (Not saying there are none here) try here : http://www.ask-questions.com/

The appalling quality of the workmanship is obvious from the felt-tip pen lines still there !

    I've been Money Tipped!
So the guv'nor will be quite happy to show you his own conservatory and the same "ventilation gaps". No doubt he'll also be more than happy to meet the Trading Standards guys at your house when they come to inspect it.

Apparently everything is in order. Those gaps are supposed to be there to let air in from outside and at the top of the conservatory there are apparently some more holes which let air out.
It's called ventilation and it stops condensation build up on the roof.

I think that the " guvnor " is pulling your leg, or worse.

Ventilation is achieved by opening a vent/window, not a permanent gaping hole like that.

Your heating bills will be " through the roof " ( pun intended ) in the winter.;)

I would be interested to see some pictures of the rest of this conservatory if the workmanship is like that throughout-while it is still standing.
The gaps are enormous, no doubt they will offer to bodge it up with silicon sealant, but the whole roof needs replacing to do it properly.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Got it sorted. Brand new roof all snug fitting, £4000 cash back and a weeks use of "the guvnor's porsche".

Are you sure he didn't say, 'as the conservatory is so bad, you can use my porch':rotfl:
