lose dogs?
if they get offended at the number 7 maybe...
anyways it is definatly worth upgrading in my opinion
im on its RC right now, you could never go back to vista
so much nicer and cleaner, runs faster, alot more intuitive and i havnt had any compatibility issues, in fact im having none which is one less than in vista!
most developers have now updated software to become functional in windows 7 so yes, upgrade if your not tight on money, if not it wouldnt hurt to wait for a bit
as for data, as far as im aware its a clean install so yes you will lose everything. (unless you back it up)
if i remember right the uk wont get in place installations, or was i thinking of something else? somebody will correct me if im mistaken.Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -

Lose docs etcIt pays to challenge0 -
Worth noting that although you can apparently upgrade on your existing hard disk and it should store all your itunes, photos and dogs (docs?) in a new folder on the install, it's worth while doing a clean install on a new disk. I've just done this myself and it's been pretty good so far.
It takes a bit of work to bring your itunes library in with all the playlists, photos are straightforward and docs are ok if you're organised. The biggest pain for me was bringing in my email. It got all the messages and contacts but lost my rules. Ho-hum, chance to clean them up I suppose.Space for rent, apply within - Free trial on Thanks button though0 -

Not familiar with clean install terminology please explain
it means wipe everything clean and start again brick up effectivly, with what would essentially be an as new system as if it just came out the boz
an upgrade however would retain all of your documents but may not be as reliable and could cause issues.
clean install is always the way to goBack by no demand whatsoever.0 -
OP, What are you on about, its a new OS and works just fine??0

Beat me to it. Essentially if you try upgrading, there'll usually be issues when running some of the software you had on there previously. If you start from scratch (nothing installed) then at least you know what's going on the machine.4743hudsonj wrote: »it means wipe everything clean and start again brick up effectivly, with what would essentially be an as new system as if it just came out the boz

Windows 7 is OK, but so is Vista.
There's not much between them, so I don't see why someone who hated Vista would love Windows 7.0 -
I hated Vista and so far loving Windows 7 RC.
Had Vista pre-installed on a new dell laptop I bought and it was slower than my previous laptop despite the new one having more memory and a dual core processor. Installed XP and the new laptop flew. Using Windows 7 RC atm and its as quick as XP i reckon, but more polished looking and got some nice features like the new task bar. Totally stable even though its the RC. Will definately pre-order it when I get some spare cash.0 -
Vista is a bit like Windows ME. A total, unmitigated disaster that was supposed to be the be all and end all. Windows7 is actually what XP was... a success, and what Vista should have been like first time round!Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j
