Several Ebay items I have sent and received positive feedback for are still showing on track & trace as "accepted at Post Office".
As mentioned above, I may send regular 1st class with COP as I sell low value items.0 -

If you complain about signatures not being taken or logged online RM will send you some stamps for each one. I think for Soolin this has become a significant revenue stream!0 -

When first using the online service, I innocently paid for and printed out a recorded delivery label and have sent two items this way simply popping them in the postbox, thinking the unique number given is how the Royal Mail tracks them. They were never received. I find in the small print you have to use counter services for proof of posting, or unbelieveably from what I have read on the royal mail site the postman simply bins them, (i.e. the policy is not to return them). Dispite all the effort the customer has taken to get them sent as of notable value.
Its outragious.so says another ordinary mug fighting the 1% who own the political machine grinding them down from on high...

Do you mean they are thrown if they are not delivered? The policy is that the customer is carded the parcel is held at the sorting office for a length of time and then returned to the sender (which is why it is always sensible to put return addresses on). Not very outrageous.
Recorded is not for items of value as there is no more insurance (39 pounds) than using ordinary post and a certificate of posting. It is supposed in theory to get a signature on delivery and is not tracked, only logged at the sending office which is why it has to be taken there.
Printing postage at home is pointless in my opinion. If you want a CoP, use SD or recorded I prefer to give the business to my local PO.0 -

I'm not entirely sure I follow you?
Obviously without proof of postage stamped by a PO it doesn't matter what service was used as if it was lost you have no way of making a claim against RM.
Items that cannot be delivered though because addresses are wrong or buyer never collects are returned eventually to the sender if their is a return address. Stuff does go missing though, I have had a number of lost items that I have never had back, but the idea they are not allowed to be returned to me is nwrong, of course they are. The fact that they were not returned just means they were 'lost' and as I had proof of postage I was able to claim that loss from RM.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. All I can say is that I have no problem in items sent normal untrackable1st class post - none lost ever.
However in using the printed labels and mistakenly posting them in the postbox without proof of delivery every single one has been 'lost' and never reached its destination. Be they parcels or letters. I have observed this is an 'iron rule'.
On no occasion have I ever had a undelivered card. And I *always* have the return address on the item.
Reading the small print t&cs on the website it appears the royal mail cannot guarantee what will occur with such items sent this way as no 'handover' has taken place.so says another ordinary mug fighting the 1% who own the political machine grinding them down from on high...
