I feel the need for a little rant. not at anyone that has posted here, but at the system the government has put in place:

All this crap of taking logbooks/ identity to a motor factor, eg halfords, is just that, total crap. You can go to any motor show or auto jumble and buy a set of plates for about £15. Same goes for the net/ebay.

All sold as "show plates" and totally legal regarding the sale, but lacking the BS identity so illegal for road use.

The bottom line is, anyone can get duplicates of your or my reg no. Fine untill they get caught for some sort of criminal activity and at this point you or I become the main suspects:confused:
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

You can get legal plates on eBay without any ID, other than your eBay details, including the BS mark and the suppliers post code.

your right, and the show plates will be no use in tracking down where or who made them as they wont have the post code or makers name on them.
it is total BS as you say bri.
the criminal gets show plates made up,commits the crime dumps the stolen car with stolen plates cant be traced.
you or i dont have the post code, british standard mark or whatever else they want and you get pulled over, HORT1 new set of plates blah blah blah.....

    doesnt make sense.

how many real crimes have they stopped by pulling over a car without the british standard mark on it?

even when i got stopped one of the officers told me his assisting officer was being very petty and he didnt see the point in it himself, but his assisting officer was within his rights to do it.
    ...work permit granted!

Now we are on the subject of 'plates' can I indulge readers to listen to my pet hate? I am seeing more and more number plates with odd lettering, gaps were there shouldn't be gaps, italic script, etc etc . It may come as a surprise to these people who have more money than sense and alter the numbers and/or letters to make some stupid comment that this is illegal. The police have powers to stop any vehicle so displaying plates which do not comply with the current regs. Worse still they can issue notices that effectively mean you can't drive your car. In-car number plate recognition cameras can't make sense of these 'fiddled with plates'. If you are 'flashed' by a speed camera and they can make out your plate number then you'll be issued with a £60 penalty notice and told that your car can't be driven until you take new, proper plates to your designated police station.

Hadrian, this post has always been on the subject of plates

I beg to differ but now there are many more less plates with illegal typeface/spacing etc, the Police peeps are clamping down on it.

Everything you have posted is known to everyone who flaunts the law:confused:

    Not me by the way:rolleyes:
