Contract buy-out with T-Mobile
Hello again,
I was stupid last October and signed up with T-Mobile on an 18-month contract in order to get the Google G1 mobile. Well you guessed it, I didn't like it and got rid of it a short time later.
Anyway, I'm half way through the term, but I want to get back with Vodafone and at the same time get the new iPhone 3GS. I am contracted to pay £35 each month, however I normally end up paying closer to £80.
I have read around and heard people mention that you can "buy out" of your contract. I have not contacted T-Mobile yet as I didn't want to give them the heads up that I wanted to leave. Others have also mentioned that if you "down grade" your contract level for a month then buy out, it is a lot cheaper. But I'm not sure if I can downgrade as I took the G1 deal when it initially launched.
Anyway, I hope someone can point me in the right direction, and does anyone have any idea what I am looking at as a buy-out price?
Thanks.

Simply put to buy out you pay your monthly cost x the number of months you have left.
You used to to able to drop your contract down one payment step each month after you got half way through your term (so drop and then pay off at the new lower rate) but T now only let you reduce in the last month.0 -
So is it as simple as 9 months x £35 monthly contract = £315?0

Oh, and phone around and see if any networks are able to buy out your contract for you... if you give them a sob story, and dribble over their customer care, and basically suck up to them, it is possible... I got Tmoby to buy out the end of my three contract... granted it was only credit onto my account, and worth 3 months or something, but its still over 70 quid!
Anything is possible if you try hard enough!0 -
your early termination fee is based on the contract tarriff you took out @ the point of connection/ upgrade minus approx 4%. there is also a strict no downward migration policy on tmobile accounts til 1 month before comitment ends... so whatever u go down to its calculated @ £35x howmany months - 4%0
