ok..here's the thing..we are travelling to Venice tomorrow (my palms are sweating already  ) and I am a very VERY nervous flyer, so much so that my husband and I haven't flown for 8 years cos the last time I spent crying the whole flight (yes I know it's irrational...)

So, have just looked at the Easyjet booking that he made and realised that we could have printed our boarding passes out weeks ago. Have now done this and we are group D, the LAST group to board.
I feel sick at the thought of either being separated or being stuck at the back of the plane.

So the question is..what is boarding like on Easyjet? Is it a free for all scrum or have I a fairish chance of being sat in the middle?

My stomach is now churning at the thought of the flight !!!

Hope no-one from here is on that flight tomorrow cos you'll know me instantly :rotfl:

  big hug

relax and think about the great time you are going to have. get to the airport in plenty of time so you are not rushing and worrying. go to check in and tell them the situation i am sure they will be able to help you.

have a great time in Venice

Me too so I fully understand how you're feeling. I usually need ativan and beta blockers to keep me from freaking out on planes and even so I am hanging onto my sanity in a state of terror for every minute of it. I'm flying late Monday night and have left it too late to get my little helpers from the Doc due to Bank holiday Monday and am already having sleepless nights and tearful moments making my will etc.

Try emailing the airline before hand or ringing them. Explain your phobia clearly. It 's better to do it in advance rather than at check in ( although make it clear then too) as savy flyers are not unknown to use this a ploy to get a better deal so you can be disbelieved. Until of course you run down the aisle shreiking 'We're all going to dieeee!!!!'

Have a few drinks too. Whisky helps.

Im scared of flying too but statistically the back of the plane is safest :)

Yes, you have a few extra seconds before you die.

But seriously, it depends upon the type of the crash. I'd rather sit over the wings, which is the strongest part of the plane and will absorb the impact forces.

I'm sure the Flight Attendant's will check upon you if you are a nervous flyer and tell them so. Ask to speak to the Pilot before you take-off if they have the time, or at the end of the flight. It sometimes helps.

If you don't fly very often, I'd either pop a sedative or down a few vodka's before boarding. Not to the point where you are unco-ordinated, which would be a safety hazard; but just enough so you feel calmer.

i had a C boarding pass with Easyjet last year and ended up with door seats in the centre of the plane that everybody else must have thought were reserved as they didn't dare sit down..
  • my suggestion still is to get there early and be at the front of the queue and grab a or b boarding. somebody may be sympathetic at check-in but as you are thinking of using your pre-printed boarding pass you won't see them....if you approach the staff when they are about to start boarding you i wouldn't be too hopeful of any help ....1. they'll say you should of checked in at the airport and made them aware of the possible problem you might have ...2. they'll just think you are trying it on ...3. they probably won't give a damn anyway.
nb at check in they can put on your boarding pass priority booking or group a at their discretion
  • In my experience (and I fly a lot with work - sometimes on Easyjet) people try and sit as close to the doors as possible so you can get off quicker. I HATE being stuck in the middle of the plane! Usually that is where most of the seats are left over... you should be fine!

I have found being almost last on to Easyjet and Ryanair flight can be a good thing. people never sit on the front row near the door becasue the have different colour head rest covers, you get loads of legroom and can stand up without distubing people you dont feel cramped or anything makes flying miles better. the downside is that the overhead lockers are usually full.

I have never had a fear of flying just crashing, I just remember what is waiting at the end and remember Planes dont crash very often you just hear about them more than you hear about the 100's of car crashes daily. Gravity is a !!!!!

Have only just read this thread and am concerned coz i have a flight with EZjet in Sept. They sent me an email about online check in but it says I can only do it if i have hand luggage only. I will have at least a couple of cases so presumably I dont have the online checkin option? I dont want to be the last on the plane coz I know what thats like!!

Hi, well the flight (coupled with my hypnotherapy tape) was great! Can't believe how much I enjoyed it! Thanks to all who offered advice.
Mrs (no) Money we got there two hours before and were allocated Boarding Gp C at check in. (there are ABCD). What seemed to happen though is that everyone hangs around the gate at boarding (so even if they call A - still stand nearby) . They certainly didn;t wait for all A to have boearded before they called "a+B" and likewise when they called "A+B+C". We were on the plane relatively quickly and the flight was full.
My advice is get there 2 and a half hours before the plane leaves (that is if you are worried) and as soon as the boarding begins, get near the front waiting to be called. Where are you flying from and to?
