Easy Jet Boarding - Group D

ok..here's the thing..we are travelling to Venice tomorrow (my palms are sweating already  ) and I am a very VERY nervous flyer, so much so that my husband and I haven't flown for 8 years cos the last time I spent crying the whole flight (yes I know it's irrational...)
So, have just looked at the Easyjet booking that he made and realised that we could have printed our boarding passes out weeks ago. Have now done this and we are group D, the LAST group to board.
I feel sick at the thought of either being separated or being stuck at the back of the plane.
So the question is..what is boarding like on Easyjet? Is it a free for all scrum or have I a fairish chance of being sat in the middle?
My stomach is now churning at the thought of the flight !!!
Hope no-one from here is on that flight tomorrow cos you'll know me instantly :rotfl:

Hi,
It is free for all - at least in the local flights. i guess the same would apply for flights abroad as well. but I am sure you would be able to find seats in the middle. In the worst case i guess if you request cabin crew they should be able to assist you.
I am sure you would be alright. Have a great flight and holiday :beer:0 -
what do you mean stuck at the back of the plane?
No plane has ever reversed into a mountain

We flew EZ from Luton and they boarded each group in turn. Within each group it's a bit of a free for all but all you can do is get to check in ASAP and get to the front of your group.
Can you see if they can make any special arrangement for nervous fliers ?Not even wrong0 -
From what I remember if you print your boarding passes at home you are automatically assigned to Group D. Basically the first people to check in AT THE AIRPORT are given Group A, when that is full Group B is assigned and so on.
If its any consolation I had a bad fear of flying, but I have forced myself to fly at least twice a year mostyly short haul, and it has helped. Of course it could also be the one valium capsule I take an hour before I board, though I have to say I'm not actually convinced I need it anymore
Good Luck0 -
Think about how lovely Venice is and this will hopefully help. And it's not stinky - YET! I was there three weeks ago and it's a joy to be there....get yourself a Venice book and enjoy that on the flight? In the United Kingdom 200,000 people are bitten by dogs every year and some people will die as a result. Of those bitten, 70% are children... So the question has to be asked....... Has the time come to ban children?0

Thanks Roadsidetree, Loobs and Two pints.
That's great news about the boarding cards - really appreciate that :T
Nelly, I know my fear of certain parts of the plane is irrational but it's the same for ANY fear. Try telling someone with arachnopohbia that that spider in the bath is harmless and I bet they still won't let it run over thier hand.
I have just listened to my hypnotherapy tape and amazingly the anxiety has gone. That coupled with my Diazepam tomorrow morning and hopefully it will be plain sailing..or jetting :rotfl:"Sumptus censum ne superet"

take a bag to check in at the airport and you will then have to queue in the queue with everyone else ....the printing your boarding pass online is for hand baggage passengers only. so take some extra stuff that will make your trip more enjoyable in a case...join the queue a good 2 hours before the flight departure and you are almost guaranteed group a or group b boarding and you will be sat together.
also check the availability of your flights by selecting the dates and flights but put in 40 people instead of where you would put 2 adults ....this way you know there's at least 40 spare seats ....if it comes back negative reduce the amount of people to say 25 and see if it gives availability....and so on and so on ....it takes only about 5 minutes to know how full the flight may be. i did this the other week and could see that our flight was going to be full
hope this helps
by the way if you are travelling in a car to the airport that is irrational as you would be safer in a plane0 -
I suggest you speak to a member of easyJet staff when you arrive at the airport and explain your situation. They may well make an 'exception' and allow you to pre-board, etc. Unfortunately 'Group D' seems to be a major flaw of easyJet's online check-in system and the reason why I would not use it next time I fly with them. It does seem a little as though they are 'punishing' those who check-in online!0

Always before anyone boards they ask for families with children and anyone needing assistance. Take your chance then and ask at the gate that you and you OH be allowed to board sooner rather than later. If you explain that you have a fear of flying which could be made easier if you get a choice of where and with whom you sit, I cannot see them not allowing you early boarding. They certainly wont want a frantic passenger on the plane 30,000 feet up. Venice is lovely this time of year and if you make it there without too much trouble treat yourself to something special. Have a great trip0

Im scared of flying too but statistically the back of the plane is safest
