Get rid off provider's name on my phone
Hi everyone,
I hope someone can help me please.
I bought a second hand phone (nokia 5800) and the provider's name is written on the bottom of the screen (I mean "painted" really).
Has anyone had any luck with getting rid off this? Without damaging the screen?
Thank you

Can you get a new fascia for it, maybe from eBay?

Thank you
How difficult do you think it would be to change it?
Also, does anyone please know about trustworthy source for unblocking code for the phone? (if there is one for this phone??)0 -
Shouldn't be too difficult. You might need one of those T4 screw drivers though.
I have changed dozens of fascias over time and never had a problem.0 -
I'd try a bit of aftershave dabbed on cotton wool, may rub off.
Re unlocking, most reliable way is through the network and getting the code, there will most likely be a fee for this. Otherwise it's pot luck.0 -

Thank you. i was thiking something like that just wasn't sure what product to use - I was thinking nail vanish remover??:D
I bought the phone second hand and I am not user of the network it is registered to. A shop in next village always unlocked any phone for me, for about £15, but with this one being a new phone I wasn't sure whether it wouldn't be cheaper to get a code on-line..
Just wasn't sure who on the net is the "real" company and who is fraud.0 -
Nail varnish remover is much stronger, wouldn't use it on plastic as it can make it go white.
Unlocking varies by network, I know Voda charge £20 for the code. Would rather pay £20 for a official network code than £15 at a shop/stall.0 -
I think nail varnish remover would melt the plastic.
For unblocking have you looked at this thread. http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1635543
I have not read it all but it might be worth a look.0 -
nail varnish remover works a treat. used it on many phones including a 3 skypephone, a nokia n95 8gb, and a samsung tocco to name but a few.
dab a cotton bud in nail polish remover, and rub on the logo HARD. keep rubbing for 15 mins or so. for the first 5 mins or so, it wont look like anything is happening but keep going. and like i say, rub hard.0
