sounds like the door has dropped a little, close the door without locking, mark the top and bottom of the door with a pencil on the frame on the lock side. open and see if the marks are equal top and bottom.
the common fault with upvc doors is dropping they need TOE AND HEELING, all that means is putting the weight of the door and glass on to the hinge side.
you can remove the locking recievers one at a time. these are the bress coloured bits of metal on the door frame. remove one( only 2 screws) then try the lock this will at least use 3 of the 5 points. top bottom and middle.

Premkit, I thijnk your missing the bigger issue that the door strip is now missing and not all door problems are solved by toe&heeling the door as by the time I usually get to them the door strip has already failed by years of force. Also Toe and Heeling the door is not removing the keeps on the frame its re aligning/ajusting the hinges or if that is not possible then re packing the glass.

Thanks JPlocksmiths - I have used the wording (privacy protected) in a further email to my local Councillor / MP to hopefully get some movement on this!!!!

My landlord could have altered the door or frame holes at an earlier date BUT they were too lazy!!!!
They were even going to leave off 1 or 2 of the metal plates in the plastic frame!!!

Unfortunately I can't interfere with it as a tenant and also I don't have the money too......

Somebody rang me from my Landlord's repairs dept and was going to send out a "Carpenter" to measure up "Wednesday" BUT I said it is uPVC !!

Anyway an hour later a company rang me up and is sending somebody out to measure up tomorrow and it will take two weeks to be made from scratch. I don't know if I am getting a new door c/w new lock or a new unit (door/frame/side window etc.)

I looked up the phone number and the company is part of the [FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]F.E.N.S.A - Federation Self Assesment Scheme.

They did say they may arrange somebody to enhance the security in the mean time!!

I would rather have a new unit so fitted properly, otherwise it is going to have to be bodged to fit again. Also an extra hole in my frame has weakened it.

    The drama continues!!!!!!

Im sorry your having continued problems with this door, as all it ever needed at the most was a new door strip fitting. A simple hour of a job at the most but if your LL wants to splash out on a new door I wouldnt grumble just seems an awful waste:rolleyes:
