My pointer would be if you are travelling with them to Indonesia - are they the right carrier for you considering they only fly to Jakarta? Unless you're seeing family there you for sure won't be having a holiday there. Are you planning to use it as a hub to see Sumatra / Java / Bali?

In which case, by the time you've added on low cost flights (at around £30 a pop) it might not be the best deal. Qatar Airlines has just started flying to Bali with some great fares.

Singapore Airlines has a seat fare on until 15 August, and they have a great range of onward flights to Padang, Jakarta, Solo (for Borobodur / Yogya), Bali, Lombok, Manado, and loads more. Might work out cheaper (and better!) overall.

But Etihad are a good middling airline i've found. Only used them once to Bangkok, their plane broke down in Bangkok and caused 15 hour delays on the return, but I got upgraded from London - Abu Dhabi, so couldn't complain.

Booked Emirates. Little bit dearer than Etihad, but uch more convenient flight times
