We travelled with them in Pearl class (Business) to Bangkok during Easter. All of the planes we tarvelled on were brand new. The best aircraft were the weeks old Boeing 777 aircraft. The inflight entainment has video on demand in all classes. The food was good. We even had a Cream tea with Cornish rhodas clotted cream on the Abu Dhabi - Bangkok leg. What a surprise - this was served in all classes.
In business they have 6ft lay flat beds. In economy it is 32".
The fares are extremely good, the planes are superb, the staff are variable from on eplane to another. They need to improve the inflight service.
If you can get a good deal, go ahead and book it.0 -
Have a look at the views on airlinequality.net.
From chris_k, they have finally taken delivery of their new planes. Before that they were chartering ex charter planes (i.e. poor seats, etc).
They are a pretty new airline who have been advertising themselves pretty aggresivly and their pricing has been very competitive."An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0 -
Yep been on them no problems at alltravelover0

Hi, My employer supplies them with new aircraft - they are a new airline and as such I am pretty sure that all there aircraft are new within the last 12 months. I havenot heard any negative comments back about them, only positive. I think form memory Emirates may own a percentage stake in them?0

Thanks folks. Pearl Class is out for me - I'll be in cattle at the back!0

I don't think this is the case. Etihad is owned by Abu Dhabi (either through the Abu Dhabi government or through its royal family).
Emirates is Dubai based and both airlines are in direct competition with each other."An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0 -
I am booked to go on etihad in the summer, they are apparently good now, with onboad internet access on the planes flying from LGW.0

Hi I travelled with them over Christmas - they don't compare with Emirates at all. I think their biggest flaw is their quality of service. I found the crew to be a bit surly and not very helpful. At one point during my flight I was asked to change seats - to the middle of the middle - when I was sitting at a window seat so they could seat a couple together. Seeing as I was on a long-haul crowded flight and specifically requested a window seat, I refused and was told off by the crew member who then proceeded to treat me rather badly - so much so I had to write in to complain. Their inflight magazines were covered in some kind of sticky liquid which I hope wasn't vomit. The food and inflight entertainment was alright. Overall not the best airline, I think they have some where to go yet before they are of Emirates standard.0

We went to Bangkok in march 07 with Etihad the plane was as good as any of the majors, clean and comfortable, the seat back entertainment was great, the food was as good as any we've had on similar flights, the crew were fine. The transfer in Abu Dhabi was fine, cheep cigs, we allways travel economy.
We had a problem with the return flight and the ground crew at Bangkok could not have been more helpful.
