Cashback Maybe Im Stupid but...
I must be missing something with cashback. It seems to me if you go for a cashback deal you pay the full (usually well over the top £25 plus) amount and claim back at month 3 6 9 as long as its within 20 days your shoe size is between 8 & 9 and your able to pay by direct debit etc etc
Ive not seen a deal yet that makes all the agro that you will inevitably get worth while.
I renewed on Vodaphone in Oct for £10 a month for 200 minutes (all networks) and 250 texts without a phone. Wasnt hard to get and means I dont have to worry about what month i will get my money if at all..
As i said at the start maybe Im missing something .. enlighten me...

Easy tiger he has got a point.
Normally when you get 1/2 price or free line rental it is exactly that, and when it finishes you can either keep it at full cost or get rid for something cheaper.
With these cashback offers you have to make sure it's all posted off, stump up your own wonga at the start and then keep an expensive tariff or lose your cashback entitlement! Not just a pain in the backside but wholly restricting as well!0 -
Of course you have a point - part of the reason they can offer these deals is that it takes some effort to get the best deal.
On the other hand, many many people are very willing to fill in a form once every few months to save £10 a month - over a period of time that's a very big saving. Maybe you're rich enough that the 20 minutes of your time is worth more than that.
Incidentally, given that some of these offers will give you a £200 phone, free minutes and texts for a year, all at zero cost, you must place a pretty high value on the few hours that you might spend getting it all sorted out. People come to a money saving forum because they want to make a bit of effort to save some money - I'd say that the best Mobile contract offers are one of the easiest and quickest ways of doing so.0 -
I gotta admit, dosen't matter how hard I've worked at understanding these contract mobile offers, I've just never been able to fathom it out.
I'd move mobile companies if I understood fully the savings ect.. wouldn't mind a bling Nokia N700 -
How easy do you want it? I'm on my 3rd Cashback deal and I have had no problems at all! 200 mins per month, Free phone and the most it has cost me is £30 per year (sorry MSE regulars, I have not been able to get it 12 monts free)0

The cashback deal I have will mean that once the final payment is made by OSPS (two paid already) I will have had a Nokia 6630 with 500 minutes/100 text a month, for full year cost of £90.00...and there are now deals out there which means after the cashback the whole contract would be freeWelcome, rogerramjet.

I am a light user of mobile phones. I got a Motorola V220 on an O2 tariff with enough minutes etc per month included for £25 per month. After 6 months, sent off claim, got cheque for £150. Next month I will send off my next claim. So, for the cost of 2 stamps a free phone and calls for a year. At the end of next month I will get a new deal for £0 or as close as possible. Oh, and I'll have a spare V220 !
Thanks MSE & Reestit Mutton (whose excellent website is linked from the Shopping scetion of MSE).Not even wrong0
