Advice for a newby ebay buyer, bid now or wait till the last minute?

One reason to bid early.
If there are no bids on the item it is worth at least getting a small bid in early to stop the seller pulling the item (easily). Then waiting until the close to stick your real bid in.0 -
The new layout with the countdown is actually a bit of a pain as sometimes there is a wee lag. So you have to bid a few seconds earlier. I have missed a couple in the past few weeks due to this
Did you have 2 screens open? I won my auctions in the last couple of weeks bidding in the last 5-6 seconds and had no lag.....maybe the prayers worked?

Thanks for all your help, I won it! Put my maximum bid on 3 minutes before it ended, didn't dare hold on any longer incase the computer had a freak out but got the item at just over half my maximum.0
