My Laptop is so hot!!

Options
Hiya,

I've got an Inspiron 6000 but the right hand side (edge) seems to be very warm, around the keyboard. The fan is on the left and it's blowing warm air but the right bottom is so hot if I try to use it on my lap it gives me burns on my knee

Hope you can help!

It will be where the power supply is fitted inside the laptop, unfortunately if it runs hot it runs hot and all you can do is put some kind of heat deflector between you and the laptop.

change your power-saving settings if you have it... make the fan/cooler power usage max.
also, most laptops have a tendency to get hot around the keyboard and bottom... ALLWAYS put something between your laptop and lap or use a table to prevent your "mid-section" from getting too hot, especialy if you are a male and are planing to have kids in the future. read in the news it reduces sperm-count

Get youself some compressed air & blow out all the dust that's probably accumulated inside.

Didn't a man (No futher comment)get third degree burns on his personal bits by using a laptop that was resting in his lap. And that was through his trousers as well.

Mine gets very hot and I always put a folder or thick book on my legs before putting it on my lap.

I think the name is a little misleading as you can't really use them on your lap.

I use mine on my knee no problem, it doesn't get hot at all.

dont u find it hard to use it on your knees... doesnt feel as hot, but you have to stretch your hands more and the laptop keeps moving when you type

I use a desk for my work laptop but now when I am sitting on the sofa watching tv and surfing it is more convenient to have it on my knee. It is a small format notebook, it weights under 2 kgs and its about 8 inches from front to back so no undue stretching required. It doesn't move when I type either:confused:

I can't find any power settings to change apart from the obvious switch off screen after x mins etc.
