I mean the stuff like porrige with Golden Syrup...it's mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! And about the only porrige I eat! But I'm not a huge porrige eater it's just nice to have it sometimesFluttering about an inch off the ground, I may fly properly one day and soar in the clouds!
SPC2 #571 - trying to get as much as possible0 -
If you measure everything out carefully and put it in a large container then you should be okay. My dad used to measure it into a large pyrex jug and set it up in the microwave the previous night. I would then press start in the morning as I was downstairs first. If you use a jug then if it does bubble over it is easier to deal with. Also you could put a plate under the cooking dish. Another suggestion if boiling over is a problem would be to put it on half the power for twice the length of time.0

If I want the golden syrup taste I just add some syrup to my porridge made with real oats. More texture and yummy taste.0 -
Does anyone have porridge in their slow cooker, I got a small one person pot with the idea of waking up to porridge but I'm just a little worried of how much to put in as I can imagine waking to one great lump of stodge. I'm wondering if 10 hours or so would be too long - maybe I should try it just on the warm setting?
I'd also like to know if anyone has fruit in their slow cooker? what fruit and how long, would you add water etc?
Many thanks in advance0 -
I can remember my mum making porridge in the SC and coming downstairs in the morning to see this grey thing making volcanic gloops - I've never really fancied porridge much since then!Just call me Nodwah the thread killer0

Never tried it Treacle.
My mom always soaks her porridge in the saucepan overnight then just cooks it (few minutes) in the morning on stove top.
Personally I do mine in the microwave. I use Jordans Superfoods porridge or Dorset Cereals fruity porridge, both have microwave instructions on box as well as traditional stove top instructions. Takes 3 or 4 minutes, always turns out yummy but I do find that the amount of milk I use isn't quite what they reckon, you need to experiment to get the right consistency for you.0 -
Treacle, I dont know if it would be worth it. I just do it on the hob. I find it only takes a couple of minutes for just me.0

Definitely wouldnt be worth it imo. Better in the microwave or hob. Just messy and time wasting in SC! You wont achieve anything.0

Hi there
I am pretty sure I once read somewhere that you can make porridge overnight in the SC does anyone have any recipes pointers etc? also my SC is 6.5L so I am not sure how to do this for a small amount (4 people) but think I can but a smaller dish inside? if so do i need to put water around the edge?
Looking forward to your replies (and yummy bowls of porridge in the mornings)
