Here we go again another person who thinks its ok to be dishonest, you were happy to pay £2000 so now why do you want it for £1500, what would you do if they'd charged you £2000 then came a few days later wanting another £500 because one of us humans has made a mistake. Ring them you may genuinely be entitled to the cheque and if not at least you wont be embarrased when they chase you for it back and when you go to collect your tickets.
My opinion is given to you as a decent honest person not as a member of the travel industry of which i am proud to be part of.
Exactly, if I received this cheque I would be straight onto them.If they told me(and in writing)that it was a further discount/refund whatever then I would go and happily spend it.

They can demand the money up to you going on holiday. If you go on your holiday and come back and they still haven't requested the money back, then it's too late.

You're incorrect - debt can be chased for up to six years, irrespective of whether the goods/ services have already passed.Gone ... or have I?0 -
I think this case is slightly different to other cases seen on these boards? Its not as if the OP has been incorrectly charged less by the agent and its not been spotted?
To the OP, what does your invoice say? If I understand correctly you have paid the holiday company £2000. What does the invoice show? Does it show the final cost as £2000, or does it show the final cost as £1500?
If it shows it as £2000, which is what you have paid, then obviously this £500 is a big error; and as the invoice shows £2000, and you have only paid £1500, I would contact the holiday company.
If the invoice shows £1500 then its slightly different, it might be that another discount has been added that wasn't factored in at the time of the booking? If the invoice says £1500 then you have paid what has been invoiced to you.
In this case I would be tempted to keep the £500, but keep it to one side, and be mindful that they could ask for it back if the error is spotted.0
