Holiday - undercharged, my rights?

Hi, I recently booked a holiday with a chain holiday provider. The total cost came to just over £2000, yet this was discounted from £2500.
I got the invoice today with a cheque for £500, yet only just over £2000 has been charged to my account. It seems that the invoice has given me two sizable discounts, which is one too many than there should be.
If I bank this cheque, what are my rights regarding this and what time limit do the holiday providers have to dispute this and regain the funds?
If I were to move all my funds to a different account and close the account, what rights do they have?
Regards,
Mike

Surely they should just cancel your holiday and keep your £1,500.
After all, they would be doing to you what you're considering doing to them?0 -
Anyone with anything constructive?
Thanks Moonchild.0 -

I'm just trying to find out as yet I don't know whether further reductions were duly applied, and also i don't want to be left out of pocket if I cash the cheque which they sent to me then they demand it back.
But well done for standing up for PLCs, PLC 1 consumer 0. I don't know what you're aiming for in that post apart from being compeltely unhelpful and rude.0 -
Well, fundamentally I'm guessing it's the most constructive response you will get, as most posts after this point will inevitably use the words 'theft' 'fraud' or 'immoral'.
The simple truth is that if you underpay, then they can / will stop you going on holiday. If they don't pick up yet you have underpaid then they will pursue you for the money. Legally.0 -

Well, what did they say when you spoke to them?
I'm confused by the PLC's comments! You agreed to pay £2,000 and now you only want to pay £1,500 because seemingly some individual in the 'Big Nasty PLC' has made an error? PLC's have rights / feelings too :rolleyes:0 -
OP, why not just call them and explain the situation?QUIDCO £2827 paid out since October 2007:D0

Well yeah I only want to pay £1,500... whenever consumers make errors or fail to comply to Ts and Cs they're hit hard, they try to make the most out of us so I don't see why we shouldn't make the most out of them.0 -

Thanks, I'll think I'll give it a couple of days and see if they contact me beforehand.

How will you be left out of pocket? You have £500 more than you should have and if you have to pay that back you will be the same as when you started, not out of pocket.0 -
Here we go again another person who thinks its ok to be dishonest, you were happy to pay £2000 so now why do you want it for £1500, what would you do if they'd charged you £2000 then came a few days later wanting another £500 because one of us humans has made a mistake. Ring them you may genuinely be entitled to the cheque and if not at least you wont be embarrased when they chase you for it back and when you go to collect your tickets.
My opinion is given to you as a decent honest person not as a member of the travel industry of which i am proud to be part of.0
