you could just buy the deeds on the land registry website, will cost you £4,

copy this and it will take you to the right section. all you need is the postcode, search for the right house, and get the deeds, presume you dont need the plan aswell with the ownership markings, if you do its another £4.

Awesome.
Can anyone tell me if there's anything this woman can do to stop me getting a mortgage. Are there any legal documents that the lender will want to see that only the freeholder can provide?0 -
All she needs to do is start a dispute about something minor, you have to declare this when selling and no-one is going to buy it with an open dispute.0
-
Can you go into a bit more detail? I have no doubt this is true, I'm just interested in the methods they would use.
Currently the woman is just not responding to any requests for details, and I'm guessing that would therefore make it impossible for me to get a mortgage on it.
In your position, I would be looking at the plight of her leaseholder and bidding up, but dropping out, to make sure that her leaseholder got out with the best deal at her expense. But if you bought, you would be lucky to have that happen for you.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Just out of interest - is this property in Blackpool?0

At £50 a year ground rent (Thank you land registry) and 80 years left on the lease.
I can't imagine much of a dispute.
Only thing I can imagine there being is non payment of ground rent, which is never going to amount to much.
Maybe insurance premiums unpaid, but I think I could get that thrown out of any court considering her hostility.
It seems, after finding out how long is left on the lease that this is still a good buy.
Also, it's not in blackpool.0
