any views on bethere/be?

Having moved house and left broadband, I am back to dial up, it's driving me mad, it's so slow! I was wondering about be or bethere which ever they call themselves. 24 meg speeds, an no 12 month contract, although you have to give 3 months notice to leave, which is a bit off putting!

anyone tried them? know what they are like?

thanks

They are good. Good, reliable, unrestricted service. This is just a plain ADSL2+ service, with no added extra's which keeps the cost down to the £24pm.

Bear in mind its "up to 24Mbps" downstream. It is all dependent on the length and quality of your BT line. Most people get near the full upstream speed of 1.3Mbps. Do you know how far you are from the exchange? I can't give you a reasonable estimate of speeds, as that can only be done if you have the ADSL line stats of your curent line - but I will be able to give you a ball-park figure, and confirm that you will not get any higher than xMbps.

If you sign-up, ensure you grab an existing member to be referred, as you & they will get 1 month free. Also, there are promo codes that will give 1 month free, and some give free connection.

Take a look at the ADSLguide forum, in the Be* section. Also, check out https://www.beforum.co.uk/forum. You'll see here that they compare well against the other LLU ISP's around.

To avoid disappointment, read through the Be* FAQ's & the T&C's. Many have complained they didn't get what they expected, but all these seem to be people that rushed signing up, and didn't bother to read the FAQ's & T&C's. Particularly those that moan that the call centre is in India - but doing so helps keep the costs down. I have barely used the telephone support - any problems are best dealt with via their online ticket system.

If I can help any further, let me know.

I've just signed up and waiting for my line to be migrated from talktalk to Be.

There's a post in the discount/vouchers forum with some codes in - I used the birmingham code to get £20/month for life and a referral email from someone to get a free month.
