Problems with Bt Master socket

Wonder if anybody can help? Im having problems with my master socket. In my master socket I currently have a double adapter plugged in but notice this seems to be causing problems. The weight of the double adapter (when 2 things are plugged in) seems to be dragging it out of the socket in the faceplate. This is causing my internet connection to cut off quite regulary. When I plug just a single connection into the master socket (my phone) then there does not seem to be a problem. Is it possible to replace the faceplate or will that make no difference. Ive taken to forcing something under the adaptor from below to make sure that it stays in the socket and that seems to work at the moment. Its not an ideal situation so looking for a permanent fix. Any helps would be great.

Is it the faceplate that is coming away from the box, or is the socket itself broken? Take the faceplate off and have a look.
If the master socket is broken then BT should fix it free, as it's part of their equipment, but you need to be 100% sure that the damage is not caused by your adaptor, or they will charge you £125 for the callout.
As a temporary fix, why not use a short trailing lead from the master to a splitter, then run your phone and router connection from there? That should take the weight off the master socket.

Thanks for the reply. No its not the faceplate that is coming away, that is still attached securely. It seems to be the socket that is the problem. When the splitter is in the socket the weight in the splitter seems to pull it out slightly from the socket causing the internet and phone problems. I did toy with the idea of using an extension from the master to a splitter but was maybe hoping for a solution to sort out the master. I know BT charge stupid money for call outs and if there isnt a problem with the socket Id be liable so dont want to go down that route until im 100% sure that its BT's problem.

On a slight tangent here but if I do/can change the faceplate on the master socket I read someone that if I remove the bell wire it can improve my internet speed. Has anybody done this?

You can remove the bellwire, (or fit an iPlate if you have the split-faceplate master socket, it does the same thing). But this only applies if you are running your router from an extension socket, which it seems you are not. If you have no extension wiring then there is no bellwire circuit to cause interference.
If nothing is actually broken it just sounds like a dodgy connection in the master socket.

If its just a dodgy connection in the master socket then what would be the best way of curing it? Is it better to replace the facepalte or is the only option to run an extention from the master to a splitter?

Just fix the dodgy connection (i.e. if it's just a loose wire).
