I only know if Nissan do you know any others that i could check out please?

    Thank you,
    Mat

Sorry could only name Nissan as on the radio all the time but I am sure there was another company advertising, maybe some googling will answer this.
  • i say 8k limit since this is what 5 dealerships told me,
i was interested in a nissan small car cost was 6k but of course this was not in the scheme,

ive since found a few other lower prices but nothing that i could get since the finance would kill me,

wow paid cash eh, nice to be able to afford to do something like that, i dont think thats something i could ever do

It was money left from my father dying, I'd rather have him than the car but the former is not possible. I was spending hand over fist on my 11 year old banger and my dad always wanted me to get a decent car so seemed to make sense as he was all about money saving so the scrappage and haggling worked well I thought.

There are many cars around on the scrappage deal for around £6k that are decent enough anything under really aren't that great a car. I have no idea why dealerships would lie and say you have to spend £8k though as there is no price stipulation.
  • Are Ciroen still doing their scrappage. I bought my Citroen C1 at the end of May. My 14 year old Rover was falling to bits. So I got the £2000 off on their own deal. I am one of those who have never had a new car (or thought about it) but the scrappage deal encouraged me to have a look.
I am very pleased with my new car and only had to wait a week for it to be delivered. Yes I had finance, which is a shocking amount over 5 years but a managable monthly payment and I am pretty sure it will get me to work and back till I retire now.

Hi work in Sales at a Nissan Garge and would like to clarify a couple of points. To the very best of my knowledge the government has no plans to extend the scrappage scheme beyond the current criteria. So I believe Nissan are the only manufacturer offering this scheme.

I am frustrated by the poor level of service and advice people are given via some main dealers. for an example of how the 8-10yr scrappage scheme works with Nissan please check this link from Nissan's website.

    http://www.nissan-offers.co.uk/compact/micra/micra-visia-1.2-petrol-3dr-554.html

I believe this should be comparable to the offer you have with hyundai. The milage allowance of 10000 miles per annum can be altered to suit individual requirements with knock on effects to the monthly payment if required

The Nissan Pixo is also eligable for the government backed scheme only not the Nissan extended scheme as this is only on UK built Nissan's (The Pixo is made in India) but the list price of the car is £6995 leaving the cost with scrappage at £4995.

    Hope this helps

If you need any further clarification on the Nissan offers please let me know.

I am not sure why you keep saying £8k minimum spend, there is no such clause.

I have a 2 year old car and had an 11 year old run around I use for work, this was getting more and more unreliable and costing a lot to fix so had a look at the scrappage scheme. Like you I did not want to spend thousands when could get another run around but the last one I got lasted 1 week and the head gasket went.

I found Kia as was told the Picanto was availble at around £4.5k, unfortunately the car is awful and looks terrible, I decided on a Kia Rio Chill. with mats and remote locking and a couple of other bits including air con, central locking, spoiler, alloy wheels, CD player etc as standard with metallic paint it came to just shy of £9k. I haggled a bit and with the scrappage allowance I got the car for £6.5k, no finance I paid in full to save on the interest charges.

1.4 petrol with free one year RAC cover and tax paid, I don't think the price was too bad, just my opinion though.

you can also pick up Clio's and various other spec cars around the £6k mark.

    Good deal !, which dealership?

We wanted to a buy a new Kia but they told us that production of the bigger cars had stopped so they could make the smaller cars because of the scrappage scheme. They are offering the Picanto for around 4.5k.

However, you should shop around, when we bought our Rio we got 2k off the OTR price and £200 trade in on our old car because it was pre-registered and had done 1000 miles. We have recently ordered a new Karens, Kia gave us 2.5k discount and then we are getting £700 for our old Rio. The only thing is that we now have to wait for it to be built and shipped and that will be 8-12 weeks.

Always shop around to see what other offers are available, and PX on your car might then be a bonus or deposit if buying on finance. Also, Kia told me that they were doing 0% finance on 'used' cars at the moment so a Pre-registered would count as being a used car.

I love my Kia Rio and it has never given me a days trouble in 7 years, I love the fact I go out and it starts it is getting too small for us as a family (one that we did not have when we bought it!!) so we have an MPV on order. Insurance on the Rio is cheap too and RFL is £35 I think. HTH.

Just to add on from this all Kia dealers should offer the same prices, if not then get your local dealer to give you that price. The prices are on Kia's website where you will find your local dealer too. They are giving free insurance on the Picanto and Cee'd locally here too, we noticed it advertised.

You can also buy a 'servicing plan' as you do have to have the car serviced every 12 months or 10,000 miles because of the warranty but for the Karens it is £20 a month for 48 months and you get 5 years service/MOT plan. I always had my car serviced and MOT'd with Kia dealers and I have never been told something needed doing when it did not. Unlike some others I have been too. The pricing is quite reasonable too. And you can extend the 3 year warranty to a 5 year warranty. Or you can buy a used C'eed which has a 7 year warranty that is transferable.
  • Hiya,

I wanted to take advantage of this scheme however, for me it is impossible. My credit rating is shot to bits so I can't get finance and my job just about covers the bills and I need my car to do my job. I have a ten year old car and fully qualify for the scheme but unless you're extremely well off or have the credit rating of a bank, you've no chance. :D

I'll be keeping my 10 year old car for the forseable me thinks! :)

You could still possibly get finance but with a very high apr,

I am not bothering for now either. Hyundai at start of month upped there Hyundai i10 by £700 i beleive but after speaking to dealer again today there are in plans at putting up the cost again at the end of this month.

I feel this scrappage scheme is being abused by manufacturers as they are upping there prices to cover the £1000 they give you and some going over that and upping by £2000.

I am holding on and may leave it to next year when i get more of a deposit.
