Is this true?!

One of their doorstep sellers signed my grandad up for a switch to southern from British gas. My grandad is terminally ill, can't see yet he had signed the forms - the rep must have held his hand in place. My parents look after his bills & yet the southern rep had searched the house & found an old (years old) B.G. one for details for the switch. He was also signed up for the most expensive central heating service & insurance package even though all of that was out of his hands as he lives in a council house (I must point out he is now in a respite home). The rep also switched his phone provider & signed him up to the most expensive monthly package even though his calls were only £3 a month at the time.
My dad made an official complaint & the person from southern said it would be dealt with but that's where our involvement ended.
These incidents are completely true & if for any reason I need to validate them then I can and will.
Disgusting behaviour & nasty money grabbing scrote. Because of this I am now in the process of switching from southern and I can't think of a good reason to go back.desrever sthgir lla0 -

rofl that s a good they DO NOT OWN THE PIPES or the cables for that matter - if you tell me what part of the country you are in I can tell who owns the pipes and point you in the direction of who is responsible for looking after the electricity side as I work for National Grid who used to own all the pipes, but in his stupidity there may be a rice grain of truth as if you have a property that has an igt then you may have to pay a charge levied by some but not all companies but I very much doubt this sales guy would know if you are or not.
I live in a new build flat and had a guy from Scottish Hydro tell me that since the property has an IGT I am paying a charge for this. Checked my bills and true to his word he was correct.
He then went onto tell me that they have now taken over the network and that if I signed up with them he would be able to reclaim the charges I have been paying for the last two years (£80 worth) and would not be charged by them.
Seemed a bit too good to be true so sent him on his way!
Is it possible that they could reclaim these charges I have already paid to other companies?0 -

SSE (of which Scottish Hydro is part), Ebico, BG do not charge extra for customers with IGT.
Nor do EDF for their dual fuel customers.
The bit about taking over the network is nonsense/irrelevant.
They can't reclaim the costs already paid to other suppliers, but might offer you a credit on your bill equivilent to that charge...but I very much doubt it. Don't accept such offer unless in writing."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -

Thanks for confirming my initial thoughts!
Seemed a bit far fetched they could reclaim costs.
Im in the process of moving over to EDF dual fuel so I think I will just stick with that if they do not charge this fee.0 -

This all relates to the subject of IGTs> independant gas transporters.
You may well live on an IGT site..but then again, you may not. The best way to be sure is to look at the meter. There may well be some indication as to who the transporter is.
It could be he is just lying /confusing to get a sale also.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -
