Flybe/Ryanair flight with hand luggage only

Hey All
This might be a pretty dumb question but thought I would ask it.
I've just booked up to travel from Glasgow to Biarritz (Via Birmingham) to watch a Rugby game in January.
I'm there for 3 nights so I thought I could get away with taking Hand luggage there. I did the same thing when we went to Toulouse last year but that was with Easyjet Via Bristol.
This time around we are flying Flybe to Birmingham and then onto Biarritz with Ryanair.
Earlier this year I bought a case to use as hand luggage on flights, it matches the dimensions of the Ryanair requirements (55cm X 45cm X 20cm). However Flybe dimensions are 50cm x 35cm x 23cm.
Would this pose to much of an issue if I tried to take the case on the Flybe flight as hand luggage?
I have flown with Flybe before but had checked in luggage as well as a Laptop bag and have flown Ryanair using the case I plan to take.
Any advice would be welcome
Thanks

It will really come down to the people you deal with on the day of the flight.
Your case exceeds the limits for Flybe. You might get away with it, you might not.
If people are checking, then you may be forced to pay the case.
Otherwise, you might stroll through and no-one will even notice the few extra cm's.
It honestly depends on how strictly they decide to enforce their own rules.0 -
Whenever I have flown with Flybe they have made us put all carry-on baggage into the frame to check it, even the 5 year old's tiny rucksack that was obviously way smaller than their dimensions! They seem to be getting less flexible than they were a couple of years ago, so I personally wouldn't risk it.0

On our Flybe flight from Paris someone came on with a large !!! carry on. Oh dear didn't fit in the overhead, girl said, oh just put in by an empty seat! They didn't weigh our bags. and didn't see anyone have to put their bag in the frame.
We bought the small black/red bags at Asda because even with them expanded they were still within the limits for Flybe. Saying that, it was a tight squeeze, so I doubt if the Ryan Air size would go in.0 -
