some people sell some tat

Ive just been looking through some catergories generally to see what sort of stuff people sell.
Did a few searches for populor clothes retailers like new look and river island etc. OMG some people sell some tat, they really do and lookin at some of the sellers other items theyve listed them before and theyve not sold.
I dont think for something thats going to only reach 99p (plus its postage) that i would bother selling it onebay, by time you take in to account the fees and paypal your not left with much! why not just give it to charity?
just seems a waste of peoples time going to post office listing etc for what a 50p profit!

yes but if you got 10 lots of 50p thats a fiver and they all add up over the year .. so if someone going to buy and you willing to sell for a 50p profit then go for it i saysunnysea83 wrote: »Ive just been looking through some catergories generally to see what sort of stuff people sell.

A lot of my stuff only sells for 99p but thats still 99p profit for something that would go in the bin. And it all adds up

But it's not 99p profit though. I haven't done the sums recently but I'm sure someone can come up with the figures.
This is an interesting thread in that it raises a sort of community spirit question.
With kids clothes around here someone will suddenly present you with a bag of clothes for the child. This process goes on until the clothes I presume are worn out. Surely folk would be better off in the long run if they passed clothes on to others rather than try and sell on EBay for peanuts?0 -
i sold something for 99p buy it now.
it cost me 5p to list, ebay took 10p in final value fee and i only got 76p in my paypal account.
thats 61p for me.
luckily the item was a voucher which i could email out and i sold a load of them but it has really put me off selling proper things for 99p0 -
Well one of the items I sell I only make around 55p profit on but I sell around 30 a week so it adds up. Better than nothing

i bought something recently for 99p with 99p postage from a business seller who sells lots of this type of item (books), well when it arrived it was in a new mail bag and had cost £1.50 odd to post so in this case they really made very little profit.
I just dont see why people bother, i mean its great for me as a buy as i do get some nice bits for 99p plus £1-£2 postage but i also see some stuff that i just dont see how it will sell!
I have to say i do start listings at 99p (Cause its free) but they always got for at least a couple of quid but ive never sold something for 99p plus the postage.
I just think by the time y ou add in time spent packaging, listing, going to post office etc and the fees you arent left with very much for your time and effort really. If i have something and i think yeah i could get 99p for it plus postage i just dont bother i just stick it in a charity bag, i guess it depends if you can be bothered to spend all that time listing, posting etc for what 50p!0 -

You forgot about Paypal fees which will be at least 23p. So thats less than 40 p profit. Did your P&P costs include packaging materials what about electricity for PC etcIf you drive to the PO theres the petrol. Yor time. You probably when all comes down to it made a loss0 -
Sometimes though an item that you might think is not worth alot of money, might be of interest to someone else and could bid to make the auction worthwhile.
but if its OBVIOUS that you are not going to get anything decent on the item you are selling then i guess you are wasting your time but maybe givinng someone else a bargain0 -

I think she was saying she gets 76p in her paypal account after paypals fees and then ebay fees are 5p (should be free to list at 99p) and then 9p for FVF so she ends up with a 61p profit after ebay and paypal fees.
If ebay are not charging for 99p starts then she would be making 66p profit
still im not sure even if i sold 10 and made £6.60 if it would be worth the hassle, maybe 10 of the same item as i could just list once with a quantity of 10 but say i was listing 10 different items all at 99p (like a cd or tshirt) im not sure its worth the time in listing. it takes me ages to list one item!0 -

Or it could go in a charity bag and sell in a charity shop for the same or a little more and be giving someone a bargain and helping others at the same time
