17 days hurrah! :rotfl:
hope M had a good bday- gosh nothing, not even a bday or xmas would ever persuade me to get up that early though!

Hi Froggy,
Cheers for that. Nothing like breaking through that 400 hour barrier!! For a change - it's finding something I fancy on the menu that is currently causing a problem - can you go to a posh place and just order chips!?!?

Morning TYO,
After a wee bit of deliberation, I'm 100% on getting the big one - http://www.worldslargestpuzzle.com/purchase.html. I've still got Sydney to finish on the 18,000 piece jigsaw but it looks the most straightforward of the four to do. The "Life" one will be fantastic once it's up.
She teaches and is neither keen on working late or doing any work during her many, many holidays so she goes in early every day to get marking and prep stuff done. From what I hear, that swiftly turns into chatting, gossiping and having a leisurely breakfast so no need to feel sorry for her!

Whats the name of the place you're going to tonight? HAve you got a menu handy? I used to be a Chef so might be able to advise you if needs be... However a large plate of chips is still good though!
In a posh place, they are called "Pommes Pont Neuf"
Cheers

Cheers Froggy,
The menu is here - http://www.howgate.com/Howgate_Restaurant_Menu.htm. Not actually that posh - more that I don't fancy of it! Chips with nothing it is!

Hi Froggy,
We're diametric opposites then! A world where a cheese board is considered pudding isn't right in my view!! I can certainly make my peace with the pudding options but it looks like a steak for dinner - not a brilliant option when I'd trying to shed a couple of pounds... as a big mushroom, ham and chicken fan, that option looks ideal for M and tonight is all about her so I'll suffer my pommes pont neuf en silence!
I'll let you know how it goes.

I did notice it and the stuff in there was probably more to my taste but the chicken dish that M will have isn't there so I ground my teeth and got past the moneysaving aspect of things and have opted for the big menu. Seeing as it's the first time we've eaten out in more than a year, it's probably fair that we should push the boat out a wee bit! I can't see it costing more than £50 tonight as neither of us drink and I don't begrudge her it anyway but it's a wrench moving away from the "every penny counts" strategy.
