Travelex Cash Passport - free withdrawals
sminkers
Hi there, new to the site, but thought this might be of interest as I couldn't see this mentioned anywhere.
Travelex's Visa Electron pre-paid currency card no longer charges for ATM withdrawals (for existing or new customers as far as I can make out) , making it more competitive. Fair FX's card does have a slightly better rate, but charges for withdrawals.
I ordered the Travelex cash passport directly from their website. There were no commission charges and better rates than in their stores. I collected it for free from a branch later that day. It was useful as I needed to get it quickly. When I picked it up I was offered a free additional card, which I think is quite a handy backup.
Cheers.

Useful info, in fact I was going to mention it myself
Keep in mind there is a charge of over 6% if you use the card in a currency other the the one applicable to the card [bit of a mouthful] e.g. using a US dollar card in South Africa.
As it now makes more sense to get a new card then top-up and existing one does anyone know if/how Travelex monitor applications for additional cards in the same currency.0 -
My only gripe is that ATM's mainly in the US ( bank of america for one ) often charge a fee of around $3 for using there machine as its classed as a international card, regardless of the card being in USD ( as my Travelex passport work card is )
just remember that when paying for goods in the US with the card select " Credit Card " as the card type and "checking account " on a ATM
