vodafone fee for PAK code and poor offers

I have just rang vodafone to ask for my PAK code and was told i need to pay a fee via debit/credit card to receive it. Cant quite understand this as my current 18 month contract is up in a months time.

I would rather stay with vodafone but after being offered some poor deals when speaking to agents i feel there are better offers with other providers.

I am currently on 18 months, 750 mins, unltd texts for £29.37 a month, i rang them up looking for same deal but with mobile internet and samsung jet and was told it would cost me an extra £5 a month. This seems poor as i have read on this forum, that many people are getting similar priced phones 600 mins, unltd texts & internet for around £22-£24 a month.

Subsequently i want to leave but have been told i have to pay a fee for my PAK unless i wait until my contract is up. Can someone please help/explain.

i would imagine that if you have a month left on your contract you would need to pay that off & also any unpaid balance

but surely if i get my pak and transfer to another provider the contract with vodafone will become inactive and from that particular day the bill will be totted up and taken out via direct debit as it normally is.

    Hi count2ten

I can understand this being a bit confusing.

The system we have in place asks for this payment before the PAC request goes through.

If you would like us to look at upgrade options for you, we can. Drop us an email from the Contact Us page with a link to this thread and WRT135 in the body of the text.

You dont pay for a PAC code. Give the PAYG Customer care a call and ask them for your PAC.

Once they issue the pac and you use it, they lose you as a customer. If you don't pay the final bill they can't cut you off. So they want paying up front as you could be leaving the contact early...

Yeah they tried this with me also, I could help but laugh at them. Went on a rant any finally got it explained (although had to drag it out if them) If you want you pac over the phone there is now a charge that vodafone are applying. Seems to be another play by the reds to try and scare you into staying. If you phone up and ask for your pac to be sent by text they will do this in 48hrs free of charge if you are in your last 30 days.
To cancel your contract its 30 days notice by an email via there online customer services.

very convient that the red representive on here explained how it was confusing but gave no help to resolve it but would definately like you to contact upgrades :)

hope that clears it up for you so you may make an informed decision

The fee you have to pay is the early termination penalty if you wish to leave the contract before it has ended or for the 30 days notice.

Once any outstanding charges have been paid, the PAC is issued.
