What are good wedding presents to give?

I meant more that I would think they were trying to make a point by doing it, 'look at me' was maybe the wrong way of phrasing it.
You could perhaps put a newlywed hamper together - things like mini bottle of wine/champagne, chocolate, bubble bath, massage oil, love heart sweets, book of romantic poetry. You could pick up the bits and bobs cheaply but together it would look impressive and people are always touched by gifts that have a lot of thought gone into them.0 -
For my sister's wedding last year, I went to one of those ceramic painting places and made her and my brother-in-law a teapot painted with their names, the date of their wedding and various little pictures of rings and champagne glasses and hearts and things. Cost £25 and is the sort of gift that'll get used loads.

I often give a night in in a box - a blanket to snuggle under, a bottle of wine, some candles, chocolates, nibbles and a DVD or two.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

A hamper is a lovely idea borokat. Very personal and unlikely that they will get another one so will be unique.0

Hi,
the best present we had (we weren't living together before) was the myriad of little
things that you need in the kitchen - washing up bowl, wooden spoon, timer,
mearsuring jug etc. 15 years on and some of the things are still in use (others
now replaced) but it was a great starter present.

im doing a cross stitch wedding sampler for my friends wedding. ive got just over a year to do it and get it framed so plenty of time.
i like the suggestions of the hampers and the digital photo frame. also what about a terramundi money pot? i've given all my friends one of them as an engagement present to help with saving for it and am planning on getting them a 2nd money pot for a wedding present with the date of their first wedding anniversary on it, also saying first wedding anniversary on it so that they can use it to save for a nice anniversary present.Debt free 3 years early :j
Savings for house deposit - very healthy
Cash back earnt so far £14.570 -
Yes I really like rene2b 's photobook idea too. my sister did that for me at my wedding - she had a polaroid camera so the photos were available right there and then. She stuck them in a book on the wedding day and then each guest wrote a message next to their photo. It was such a great idea. I've still got it now0

We didn't have a wedding list, nor did we ask for money, but one of the best wedding gifts we received was a 'proper' picnic hamper. And the person who gave it (who incidental was a last minute invite by OH) had tied two little miniature doves doves to the handle.
But whether people gave us money, gifts or nothing, we were just thrilled they were there to share our day with us.0 -
Sorry if im really thick but whats a dove dove? x
PS Love the idea of a picnic hamper0 -
