I have never been to any weddings before, but I am going to one next saturday.
I really dont have a clue what to buy them though. There is no list, and I have had no experience of this before.
Money saving presents would be the best

Just an idea, away from the usual silver photo frame.
What about a large keep sake box where they can put in the wedding cards etc, The local card shop has them for around £9.99:j“You’re only here for a short visit.

Do you have a budget in mind?0

My friend went to a wedding and gave a card. Then whilst they were on honeymoon she booked them a table (and footed the bill) at their favourite resturant. She then sent a card saying "just when you thought the honeymoon was over..."
They were really thrilled with that. But it might be more than you were thinking of.
I like the photo idea. We did something similar, my DH acted as an unnoficial photographer at bil wedding last year. The day after their wedding we dropped off about 75 photos which we had printed for them. They were then able to put them in to an album that their friend was doing for them.Cross Stitch Cafe Member No: 86 :j0 -
You could always do something like the Oxfam Unwrapped idea, where you 'buy' them things like goats, school books, seeds etec, which Oxfam will use. You can buy these in pretty much all Oxfam shops - the recipient gets a card explaining the scheme and a fridge magnet I think. Can do it online too.
Or offer to give however much your budget allows to a charity of their choice. Or many charities have schemes like Oxfam's that you can do online.
We're doing a charity gift list for our wedding - got everything we need and have a charity whose work we both really value.
Just a thought!0 -
We have a friend's wedding in a couple of weeks.
We're going to give them a digital photo frame, take plenty of photos during the day and include the memory card with the gift. Hopefully they will like it.0 -
one of my aunts bought us a lovely wooden "memory box"...we opened it just after we'd said to ourselves that we should get one!
It now contains all our cards, ribbon from my flowers, our name tabs off the top table, some of the confetti off the tables etc;)I am not a complete idiot - some parts are missing;)0 -
Gift vouchers for somewhere like M&S or John Lewis are always useful. I personally would find it a bit presumptious if someone gave a charity gift, I know it sounds very mean and selfish of me but I prefer to give to charity off my own bat rather than someone doing it for me. It seems a bit, 'look at me, I give to charity and this is what you should be doing'. Totally different if the couple have requested donations to charity however.0

What about good old cash?!
Depends on whose wedding it is though, family or friend? Close or not so close?Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
I like rene's idea of the picture album or the idea of the digital photo frame.
I don't think that the charity donation is at all 'look at me' but I can see where borokat is coming from, some people might not like it. We never got married so that people could give us presents so it wouldn't have bothered us if someone had donated to charity rather than give us a gift. If this is something you were thinking of then you could ask the bride and groom if they would mind?0
