A little OT but I have just returned from Spain where I used my netbook and the "Free 3 dongle" posted on this forum ( here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1670495&highlight=microp )

I also used the unlocking S/W and the Telstra Connection Manager S/W (again info posted on this forum here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1703797&highlight=dongle) and a YOIGO Sim giving me s-l-o-w access for €1.20+vat for each day.

For France a quick search gives http://motorhomefacts.com/forum-printtopic-1-60151-0-0-asc-viewresult-1.html showing how to get hold of an Orange France PAYG Mobicarte SIM giving 500MB of data for €9.

So in principle the solution I outlined for Spain will work in France but with the Orange SIM. Just be aware of the issues around activation and top up mentioned in the link.

I'm fairly sure the T&C's for the 3 dongle are that you pay a very high per MB charge when operating under a roaming agreement, which you would be if using a UK 3 dongle in Spain.

Have you checked your bill? Martin lewis has tales of people using thei iphone to download episodes of Eastenders whilst abroad and it costs £500+

Jason this site assures us that "unlocking is totally legal" - and the YOIGO SIM I mentioned was purchased with cash(I left the 3 SIM in the UK).

    Thanks S.

I could do with a mobile internet connection in France myself and had been put off by the fear of being stung with a big bill - but having gone through your links.... top stuff!.

    Thanks.
