O2 Contract advice
Just wondering if anyone has any advice regarding my O2 contract.
I currently pay £35 a month for my mobile and I last upgraded my phone in September last year, when I upgraded I agreed to an 18 month contract which I didn't mind.
Anyway me being me I've decided I want an Iphone, was going to buy a new Ipod but thought I could combine the 2. To get an Iphone I would need to upgrade my contract which again I don't mind.
Do you think 02 would let me do this 6 months early as I will technically be upgrading and paying more for my contract or will they tell me I have to stick with mine for another 6 months then do it.
Just thought I would see if anyone has any advice before I go through the tedious process of pressing buttons 800 times before I get to speak to a person

I'm in a similar position - have got 5 months to run on my current contract (£20 per month) when I asked about upgrading to an iphone early they told me I'd have to pay off the remainder of my existing contract first.xxx Nikki xxx0

Although it does seem a bit silly as they would be getting an extra £10 a month off me 6 months early. If At First You Don't Succeed, Call It Version 1.0

I've just found this if it's of any use to anyone:
Option 1 - wait until eligible for an upgrade.
You may already be eligible but if not, all O2 Pay Monthly customers are part of O2 Priority List and those paying £35 or more a month, have the opportunity to upgrade early. Customers won't have to see out the full term of their existing contract before being eligible for an upgrade.
All customers continually spending over a minimum of £80.00 a month, receive a 6 month early upgrade
All customers continually spending over a minimum of £50.00 a month, receive a 3 month early upgrade
All customers continually spending a minimum of £35.00 a month, receive a 1 month early upgradeIf At First You Don't Succeed, Call It Version 1.0

I managed to upgrade 6 months early but spend no where near £80 a month. I had however taken out O2 Mobile Broadband at £14.68 a month and O2 Home Broadband at £4.91 a month within the last 6 months. Had a £35/Month Contract. Went for the Simplicity 1 Month rolling deal, then upgraded to an iPhone 3GS when they were released 2 months later.Cheers

I'm in a similar position. I upgraded last October and got an XDA Diamond. It's turned out to be quite crap, too slow to do the things it can do. I've complained to O2 but there's nothing they can do - they offer to repair it, but it's not a problem with my handset, the guy in the O2 shop admitted it was crap.
So I've decided as I'm over 9 months into the contract, I can reduce the tarrif. I already have a £10 discount so I'm going from a £35 to a £30 then to a £25. Which will cost me £15 a month with my £10 discount. Then I'll pay off 6 x £15 to upgrade early. I'll save £65 against just hanging on until the end, but of course I'll be paying for my new contract for those 6 months - so not a real saving. Actually it'll cost me £145 more over the next 8 months but I'll have an iPhone 3GS 6 months early.
I only hope the iphone is actually fast enough.0 -

You won't be able to upgrade 6 months early to the iPhone unless you pay term fees to do so.0
