Well I always complained about being bored before! I really can't wait for the weekend though. Didn't have the best sleep again last night, worrying about a couple of specific work things so I have done something about them today - had to send a very 'unwanted' email to someone but at least it's done now. And got an extension on the deadline for my report as I'm waiting on last minute bits from other people. Our big 'advertising campaign' went live today which is quite exciting!
I've found writing the lists really useful the last couple of days, so think I'm going to try and keep that up - I have a bad habit of just scribbling things on bits of paper and getting a bit lost as to which ones I'm doing. Might try something like Microsoft One Note to keep track.

Thanks Sal, hmm you're right, I am too much of a perfectionist - I've always put a lot of pressure on myself.
Today, I'm trying to take it easy - there's nothing that desperately needs to be done today, so I'm having a look at some training stuff and things for our team meeting next week.
I seem to have turned a bit of a corner with the Philosophy course, from feeling a bit lost and intimidated by the people who want to bring in a lot of other knowledge and use as many big words as possible... to realising that I am understanding the topics in the course and I think I'm expressing my thoughts well in discussions.
One thing I am a little bit unhappy about today - I'm trying to decide whether to get my fringe cut or grow it out, so at the moment it's scraped back out of the way.. look OK, except I have discovered a wrinkle on my forehead  Getting old!!!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
It is a weird thing being on a course- everyone feels they have to use big words and i suspect that they too feel intimidated or feel that they will lose out if they don't. Personally i find that the best messages/articles/books are the ones that are simply written and not patronizing nor full of their own puffed up importance.
Glad you are finding your way around it all to
Keep the fringe. xBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

You're right Bob, and it seems worse with this online course than most real life ones I've done. It is supposed to be a 1st year University level course but some people are trying to take it way beyond that.
Maybe we should have a vote... fringe or no fringe?!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
I remember the very first time i came across the word polemics...now with my sense of humour you may well be thinking, Oh oh- what did she come up with?
I actually mis read it as it was on two lines...so read out poly mix( we were reading the article out loud). In a way it is similar though- i can see how they plaster over the cracksBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

Poly mix! Love it - just like crudd its (crudites) .... us self educated lot .....
Keep the Fringe!
It took me ages in this job to realise that the ones who use the really big words in local meetings are the ones who's only just qualified, or are totally disconnected from (emotional) reality. Genuine academics, who use those words on a gut level, are very very rare, more like hens' teeth2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Or one of my old work colleagues used to pronounce canapes to rhyme with err.. japes!
