Absolute rubbish, the customer charter (the big board behind customer services) states that if you are charged more than the displayed price you are entitled to double the difference - no ifs buts or maybes.

Stores may decide to go against Tescos national policy and this is usually stores who are crap at keeping their prices correct or operating tills correctly.

As for this new crap that Tesco store cs are spouting about human error - what rot - all overcharges are human error they can all be traced back to some Tesco dimwit.

I agree, have had to call head office many a time when stores haven't applied the double the difference. Have been told on more than one occasion by the customer services that manual or automated overcharges shouldn't make a differnce and its usually the manager of the store has told staff different to national policy to recoupe losses due to having given out more double the difference than normal the previous months to get the figures back up and that they shouldn't be doing this. Asda are the same and the managers are actively targed to keep the amount of £2.00 gift cards they give out low and instead of making things right in store the easy option is to tell staff at the desk to wrongly advise customers that the overcharge has to be over £1.00 before they give out the gift card.
if i had known then what i know now
  • Just had the same in our store, got the £7 refunded, but was never offered DTD, never asked for it either though.
Cannot understand why the staff have to push a button for the discount to be applied - surely the system can do this automatically?

The same think happened to me on the vodka that was on offer 2 weeks ago. I was charged the full amount even though I spent over £30 and was given back twice the difference..hurrah, almost free vodka!

Mind you, their pricing is getting bad again, I rarely do a shop without something being charged wrongly. If it is only pence I don't even bother going to CS and just shrug it off as you can easily wait 20 minutes to the queues of people complaining about things.

You obviously have never worked with a 'system'...lol.

What seems 'simple' to us ordinary people is beyond the capabilities of most 'systems', or the supplying company want £500k for a little mod and so Tesco try to get around it with a 'workaround'..that relies on human beings [....and there the fun starts!!!]

As Dilbert said, the problem with foolproofing stuff is that the quality of our fools is rising very quickly!!!!!!!

Am I the only one that thinks this doesn't even qualify as a grabbit??

    It's just a one-off - a bit of good luck, but I can't see anyone else benefiting??

    I disagree nluk100

It's a grabbit, as the 2 for £12? offer is not forever.

yes, not everyone will score for a DTD [depends on till person's awakeness!!], but it's possible to benefit whilst the promo is on...

Good to know that Tesco Customer Service desks are still behaving like little Hitlers, i do miss my little chats with them from the RNR days.... Nothing like a call to head office to sort things out.

I never understood why the CS Staff act like you are doing something wrong and think they can over rule the big sign behind them.
