Im not sure what you want? bankrupts to be punished for life, or people in trouble now to get educated on the matter?
Do you really actually hate bankrupts and wouldnt spit on them if they were on fire?
What do I want? I dunno. Something simple like debtors feeling an obligation to repay their debts. Radical I know, in this crazy noone is to blame culture, but I guess I'm old fashioned.
As for your last comment, it doesnt deserve a response.0 -
In short...where has our compassion gone.
We've got more now than we have ever had before. So much so it's driving people up the wall and ruining the country while people extract the urine out of others as they are protected by "compassion" and "human rights".
Wheres our responsibility gone, thats what I want to know. Responsibility to others and ourselves.0 -

Exactly. I was in the middle of writing the same thing, but you caught my views perfectly.0 -
I meant personal compassion, not just what is perceived to be compassion via our government. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
The fall off of acceptance of responsibility is a big issue for me. It ties in with the ambluance chasing "sue everyone" ideology.
To me, society is there (or should be there) when it suits us. Yet at the same time we want our privacy & rights as an individual protected.
Like I say, the responsibility issue is massive to me. No-one is responsible for anything anymore. Where I work, my team are actually running a 3 month programme on the importance of accepting personal responsibility. I'm interested to see how it is recieved....It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

It's a sad reflection on modern society that we have to rely on employers to develop three month training programs to teach us something which should be instilled at birth.0 -

That's what I meant.
I think compassion has gone wayyyy to far. Having compassion is one thing, I think I demonstrated this in one of my first posts on this subject by saying I have the utmost respect for some who go bankrupt and it's a damned hard decision.
But that's where my compassion ends.
I think the word "compassion" is used in place of "turn a blind eye" or "put up with" or generally "don't hold an opinion unless you agree". That's compassion gone wrong and becomes totally meaningless, and more of an excuse others can use.0 -

The same principle applies, but i think you're talking about different things.
People feel genuine compassion for genuine cases that deserve it, but too many people still take the !!!!. Look at the numbers of people on IB that dont deserve it. People getting benefits for bad backs, yet are lauded on Britain's Got Talent as breakdancing pensioners.
Those genuine cases sadly get lost in the noise about the cheats, and we're sick of it.
But I'm sorry because I can feel no compassion for people who lack the basic discipline to not build their lives on credit, and then wheedle out of their obligations when it all turns to custard. It is akin to theft. Genuine hardluck stories of being made banktrupt by OTHER people is different, but on this forum at least they are in a very small minority.0 -

SAYS IT ALL REALLY!
we'll always come across people like you, hate and no respect for anyone you decide is below you, regardless of how they got there.
If you dont know how to solve the problem, dont biother moaning, because simply saying ' repay debt' isnt enough, yes repay it! but bankrupts are'nt in that position. so whats the point of constantly repeating yourself with no answer except - repay , repay and repay, if they could they would! the judge and the OR has obviously seen they cant. geez its like talking to a 12 year old.
i really cant be bothered to waste my time with people like yourself. so i wont reply or read any further

They're a 'must have' though, basic human right, innit? Just like the fags, it's their 'only pleasure in life *cough, cough*'.
That certainly is part of the equation: the access: the comprehension though is something different IYSWIM: in a non judgemental way some people find things easier/impossible.
Sue, I think people are judgemental, but I think the real problem is we judge ourselves less harshly. while we scream about failings in education we ignore the massive absenses and discipline problems our children confound the system with. we look at what other people haven't done for us, not we we haven't done to get the most out of things. Or we find excuse for our limits rather than accepting them: thus we have forgotten that somepeoplem, regarless and not in a fingerpointing way, have lower limits. This is part of the problem I'm struggling to describe as I see it.:o0
