    Morning everyone :)

Bright and sunny here ... windows are open and cats are dangling out of them enjoying the fresh air no doubt they'll go out and play later on once the bin men have been!

I have put off for weeks tackling our bedroom ... it's become a dumping ground (underneath the bed) after the dreaded visit of the MIL as she needed our spare room! I really should get started on that today!

Got to do a load of whites today and hang them out while its sunny :) and make a Victoria Sponge to use up the leftover jam.

We were supposed to be doing Corned beef hash tonight ... but after opening up a tin of corned beef from Aldi it was like oily mush inside not like the corned beef I normally buy from Tescos  so think I will give that to the cats and make a veg stirfry instead... is corned beef supposed to be like mush or solid? I alway thought it wa supposed to be firm?

    Morning OS chums hi.gif

Another hot day yesterday which is lovely! Garden is suffering a little as it's been 8 days without rain and my OH 'forgets' the odd evenings watering!
    welcome2.gif chickadee!
essexgirl - hope you had a good day on the beach, oddly enough, living 10 mins from a beach here you get a bit blase about going.
Sunnyday - glad the piccalilli recipe is still going down well
Fairy - so sorry to hear that your father is being so difficult, it must be frustrating and heartbreaking. hugs.gif for you honey.
Lesley - it's like an endless battle with the cabbage white and I have something else too.. little almost black and white caterpillars.. no idea what they are but there are loads of them as well as loads of cabbage white caterpillars. (haven't been out for a few days so they all had a chance to hatch out!!) Horrible!
Burp - I had to laugh at your cat parading a lilet around the lounge. :D Oh and corned beef is supposed to be firm.. I am wondering if that is just a dodgy tin? Might be worth ringing or taking it back to the shop?
hilstep - Hope the shingles isn't making you feel soo bad
PenPin - So sorry to hear about the swine flu. Hope you feel better soon.
Mioliere - Summer is a beautiful name

Had my hair done and I feel gorgeous again now :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:, well, my hair does at least! Had six inches cut off the length and shaped round my face. Feels much lighter which is great in all this muggy heat.

Made an enormous sausage plait yesterday which we had for tea last night with mash and baked beans. We tried the Tescos value beans and they actually taste fine so will buy them again. My OH says they make him more windy than Heinz, but I am sure that is liveable with to save the money!! :rotfl:

Also attempted the chelsea bun recipe in the BM book and again the dough was really wet. In fact wetter than last time so I just poured the whole thing onto a greased baking tray and sprinkled liberally with sugar and cinnamon and dried fruit and kind of squished it all together into a blob and put more sugar and cinnamon on the top and stuck it in the oven til the knife came out dryish. Again it tasted great but I wish I knew why the dough was coming out so wet when we follow the instructions to the letter.

As it does seem a little less muggy today (thank goodness!) I will attempt some gardening. Hoping my godson will be up again to finish off the fence.
smileyhug.gif for anyone who might want or need one today.

    Morning All

Havent posted for a little while but I have been keeping up to date with all that has been happening.

Went back to work mid July........have had a bit of a nightmare with them but all sorted out now. Unfortunately I am off again with some sort of bug! Feeling much better today though so will hopefully be back tomorrow.

Once plus point of being sick is that I havent eaten anything for days..........thats bound to have helped with the weightloss! Lol!

OS has well and truely gone out the window since I have been back at work. Cant remember the last time I made DH a proper meal and dont even start me on housework.

Really need to get some sort of routine going. Think I will head to Mr A when DH gets home and stock up on lots of fruit, the medication I inject suppresses my immune system so obviously I wil be a lot more prone to picking up coughs, colds and bugs. Am thinking more than ever I probably need to make sure I get my 5 a day!

    Hope you are all well

Sitting here waiting for our new bed to be delivered. It's supposed to be some time between 11:00 and 13:00.

Little canine guest is queening it on the sofa.

Mr LW is slaving over a hot computer (w*rking from home today).

Shepherd Spy has been prepared, just needs to be cooked.

HM cherry ice cream for pud.

Washing on line, and I ought to be in the kitchen doing the couple of bits that need to be hand-washed instead of faffing about on MSE.:D

((((HUGS)))) to all who want/need one today.

Morning all (or afternoon all depending how long it takes me to write this:D)

Been to the library this morning with the kids, got myself a load of cookbooks. I'm looking for veggie meal inspiration, especially Indian food. DS2 has borrowed a huge book of chocolate recipes and is cross because I don't have any chocolate. I'm trying to get him to understand that we look in our cupboards first and use what we have before buying special ingredients (usually).

I'm planning on making a batch of bread this afternoon plus something for the cake/biscuit tin (maybe with the kids:rolleyes: If I can't get out of it).

Lunch will be red bean and sweetcorn salad with pittas I think. Supper is going to be smoked mackerel pilaff.
  • Thanks MSD - I am feeling better about Dad today. I think my PG hormones are making me get more upset about things which I would probably cope better with normally! The case-worker is going to talk to the home and try to arrange another visit day, and I am planning on seeing Dad just before that and reading him the riot act! Have convinced Mum that she WILL be coming on holiday with us in a couple of weeks time, whatever else happens!

Re your BM dough - there's at least one recipe in my book where the quantities are typed wrong! Can't remeber what it was now, but when I checked similar recipes the teaspoon measurement had been put in as tablespoons! So it might be that there's a prob with the recipe Hun - not with what you are doing at all.

Burp - yes corned beef should be kind-of solid - we always keep ours in the fridge before opening it as I find it easier to get out of the tin when really cold. I guess that the fatty bits might get soft in really hot weather - but sure the cats will enjoy it anyhow!

Got my first 'baby bargain' on ebay today - a swinging crib for £19 - the identical one is £89 new in shop near me! Going to pick it up tonight (although DH things it's too early to be getting baby stuff really and will have a moan about having to store it etc. I am sure!).

SC chicken & rice was really yummy for tea last nite (got leftovers for my lunch today). Had planned on a pasta dish tonight with the rest of the chicken, but a friend invited us round for BBQ, so guess that will be tomorrow's supper instead now!

Hope everyone has a good day!

    Afternoon all,

Warm but overcast here so had to beat myself out of bed to-day, seem to be getting tired all the time again, weight is shooting up so need to re-activate myself in some way. Monstrous coldsore still here, although not so sore to-day.

Lovely name for your new grand-daughter Mioliere.

Lamb chops for dinner to-day....demanded by OH, he has had rice and pasta the last two days so feels the need of a 'real dinner'....spuds, carrot, turnip and meat in copious amounts!

Need to hang out some clothes and put more on, looks as if things might actually dry to-day.

    Have a good day all
