Morning All..................Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Wednesday 19th August! It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good
Where is everybody
having lovely lay ins I hope.
Myself been up since 5.30 have done all the banking and essential stuff in the office as we are off to the beach for the day. We are going to Frinton and the traffic can be a nightmare so are planning to leave early. Have now got all my importantant stuff done so once I have finished posting this I am going to make the picnic.
Tuna pasta salad, egg and ham sandwiches & chicken. I like going to Frinton - lovely beach but there is nowhere down the beach we you can spend money
very mse.
Had a nice meal with friends last night but am feeling quite tired but as I am planning just to mainly read all day that wont be a problem. Didnt get much done yesterday but it was sooo hot I got worn out doing nothing. Believe the weather forcast is changing tomorrow so housework and ironing can get done then.
Probably will be something on toast for tea depending what time we come in.
Didnt catch up on the thread yesterday so hope everyone is ok. Off now to check the calendar for any birthdays.

Morning Essex girl and all who follow
It looks a little grim outside this morning so not sure what the day holds.Hopefully it will cheer up and I will pack a picnic and take the kids to the park.I'm totally skint so it will have to be a no shopping day:oOH is back at work today and wont get another rest day till Monday so its just me to amuse the tinies. He did finish the decorating yesterday though so my Dining Room looks all fresh and lovely and I made some new curtains for the window last night so it just needs the carpet shampooing and the light fittings cleaned and it will look great.
This growing our own veg has really encouraged the kids to eat their veg as I cooked the murdered cabbage up last night and it disappeared without a moan or a whinge:eek:.I've been given some fine weave old net curtains off freecycle so need to pick them up to net my remaining cabbages, cauli and broccoli.I could also do with getting some Brussels in the garden too.My potatoes are coming on a treat and want earthing up so thats another job for today.
On the downside I also have a pile of ironing to tackle:mad:and my bed needs stripping and the washing done
PP-Hope the dreaded Piggy Pox is not too severe with you and that the tamiflu helps to ease the symptoms

Morning all
Hubby's at work, the budgie is going home today & I'm going out with DD & DGK.
Congratulations to Moiliere & family on the safe arrival of baby Summer.
We started the day with some excitement, 2 police cars, 4 police officers & 1 arrest. There has been a lad hanging around here with some of the local kids for a while, he's an ex-pupil, he was expelled a while ago. I knew it wouldn't be long til trouble kicked off, but he's gone now in the back of a police car. No doubt he'll be back soon.
Have a great day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning all,
Beautiful day here again :T, I have a dark wash on, and a load of towels to go in after, I am also hand washing an angora and silk wrap top, its in cold water in the sink, please please please dont let me shrink it.
Need to hoover round this morning, and mop if necessary, and get the washing out.
We need to pop into town today to get dd's school shirts, and go into school to empty her locker, they were supposed to do it on the last day, but they all got evacuated due to a gas leak, and if we dont do in they break the lock, and we have to buy another
I also need new jeans, I tend to get them in M + S cos they do the extra long leg ones.
Cheese and Mushroom omlette for tea tonight, with nice brown bread, and salad from the garden.
I finally have some peppers coming on my pepper plants :T was just about to give up on them. And I have literally hundereds of chillies coming :Ton, might try some chilli vodka this year
Ok better get on, have good days all xx0 -
Good morning guys,
Warm and cloudy here today. Today I hope to finish the kitchen and that leaves just the glossing to do tomorrow. I have 3 cupboards left to wash out and sort and the walls to do - not much painting really but the utility took 3 coats . The lad who did my garden last year is coming on Monday to fence off the other side and I will ask him for some ideas and a quote for knocking through the lounge so that we have a bit more room downstairs. The back room is never used anway (except as a storage/dumping room) so it will be nice to have the extra room. He did say that if it needed planning he would do the leg work :T:T but other houses in our street have been knocked through so I hope it won't be a problem.
The door curtains are in the washing machine and will be out on the line shortly and this evening I will have a hunt on ebay to see if I can find some cheap curtains for the 3 windows.
Lunch will be tuna/ham rolls and tea will bw a nice simple beef curry which is in the SC.
Pen pin, I hope you have had tami. and that the symptoms are not too severe. I'm sending you a big squeezy hugxxx
I know I am harping on about Sunny Girl - does anyone know how she is given that her last post she too had swine flu?
Hugs to anyone else in need, and everyone else have a good one.

Morning all:j
Just put another load on the line - am down to washing aprons, dog bedding, slippers etc. etc. Not all at once though! Have cleared the shed and the top end of the garden today ready for the move. Solicitor thinks it is likely to be 27th next week now:eek:
Am just off to take another load to the charity shop - where does all this 'stuff' come from that we accumulate. I am taking nothing to the new house that is surplus to reqirements:T (yeah, right:rolleyes:)
Pen-pin - hope you are feeling better soon
Mioliere - have a lovely time with your new grand-daughter
Essexgirl - enjoy your day at Frinton. Don't forget that passport or you won't be allowed through 'the gates':rotfl:(Do I remember reading somewhere that they have dismantled the famous Frinton Gates and now have an automated barrier?)
Enjoy your day everyone

Hi everyone,
Quiet on here today. I've not seen Halight for a couple of days, I hope he and the twins are ok.
Not a lot OS happening at the moment because I'm so tired (doctor upped my tablets for underactive thyroid quite dramatically on Monday so I hope they'll help - it usually takes about four days).
Am trying to use up the perishables in the fridge before the holiday so tonights dinner will be bacon, eggs, chips and beans DH and DS will be pleased.
Also need to tackle the ironing mountain so that I have something to pack.
Hugs to all of those in need.0 -
Morning peeps
Sunny here. Have the young dog's bedding in WM. I wash it every 2 days at the moment and am still applying lotion to her 'hot spots'. So far, so good but if it gets itchier then a trip to the vet will be on the cards.
Been to the dump with 7 sacks of gardening waste. Have been working like mad cutting back bushes and I'm really enjoying it. More to do today.
Yesterday's tea was spicy lentil and squash stew and there is enough left for my lunch today. Tea tonight will be omelettes, baked pots and salad, although Dh says he fancies going for an Indian meal.
PenPin - hope you are feeling ok. SF is pretty horrible and takes a while to get over. I slept loads so i hope you are managing to do the same.
As others have said for a wee while now, I wonder where SunnyGirl is and if she's ok. I know that people 'come and go' on this thread but still thinking of her.
Ok, off to have a coffee and tick some things off my 'to do' list:p
