Quidco £20 for opening Alliance & Leicester savings account

Options
Hi

I did a quick search and couldn't see this on the forum but apologies if it has been posted already.

Quidco are offering £20 cashback when you open an Alliance & Leicster savings account online.

It seems it must be opened with a minimum balance of £1K but that you can withdraw money when you want without penalty. The rate is 3.15% - no idea if this is good or not but it might be worth doing for the cashback.

Here's the blurb copied from Quidco:

I opened one of these last month.. I just missed out. What are the chances of having more than one account? Thanks.

Excellent offer, but I suggest folk keep an eye on the progress of the payment.

"getpoundsback" had the same offer for a similar A&L account 12 months ago, and I applied then. This failed to track, so I raised it as an enquiry, and Neil there chased it up several times. Eventually, the £20 was indeed paid, literally 12 months to the day from when I'd opened the account! Makes you wonder whether this was a deliberate policy by A&L?

For those of you technically able, I would suggest that, after applying through Quido, you check your web-browser cookies and locate (and take a copy of) the new one marked "allianceandleicester". Using notepad to read this, you'll will find a text string that includes the word "quidco", so that can be used as proof that A&L acknowledged the application had gone through quidco at the time of applying.

A bit of hassle, perhaps, but worth £20!

I'll still be doing it this time as well, mind!

Yes, I also saw this earlier today on Quidco and just searched to see what people thought. Seems good to me.

Hmmm! Think I've decided against it, and will go for S&S ISA instead - that could make £20 (or lose it) in a day or two. Will take the risk!

Any ideas how this initial deposit has to be made?

Cheque? DD? I don't fancy keeping £1000 in a non-interest bearing current account for days, which would cost me 11p per day.

BACS(/FP?) it in just as soon as you know your account details (as per the other eSaver cashback deals of yesteryear)...

I have an A&L current account it looks like there is nothing to stop existing customers from doing this - unless I'm missing something?

I had an A&L current account when I opened all 3 of my eSavers (1, 2 & 3) for £20 cashback (Quidco, cashbackkings, & Quanti).

Also, my eSaver 2 was still open when I applied for the eSaver 3 through Quanti.

I've been paid out on each occasion.

Hmm, TCB don't seem to have this one. :-/

I would currently get 6% gross on that £1,000 in my Premier Direct account, which over say 3 months (Estimated time required for the cashback to become payable) is about £19.60. Over the same period the interest on the eSaver is about £10.40 (gross). Because I don't have a Quidco account and would have to pay £5 membership, this'd reduce the overall benefit to less than £6.

Think i'll give this offer a miss ;) Good offer to anyone wanting to open an account right now though.
