I made a SayNoTo0870 app for Symbian S60 phones
I'm sure everyone on these forums already knows about saynoto0870.com, the site that lets you look up 0870, 0845, 0800 etc. numbers (which are not included in your free minutes) and get an alternative geographic number to call (which is included in your free minutes)
In order to simplify this process I wrote a little program in Python for Series 60 Symbian phones. What it does is asks you for a phone number, searches the saynoto0870.com website and presents you with a little menu of the results. Select one and it will dial the number in question. Obviously this requires internet access so if you don't have any free data in your plan, this may not be the most cost effective solution (a typical search will use about 16kb of data)
Additionally if the number is a freephone number, it will offer the 0800 buster service at the top of the search results.
To install the app, first you need to install the Python runtime then you need to install my 0870 dialler.
When you run it, it will first present a menu of area codes (ie. 0870, 0845 etc.) pick the appropriate one and you will be prompted to enter the rest of the number, eg for halifax bank you'd pick 0870 on the first menu and then enter 7203040 on the next screen.
The screen will then go blank for a few moments before a menu appears with a list of alternative numbers. Choosing one of these will cause the phone to dial that number. When the call ends the menu will re-appear just in case that number was wrong and you want to try another one. You can pick cancel if you're done with it.
Disclaimer: This is a first release of the app, there may be bugs that I haven't spotted. If this happens I wont be held responsible, however when it dials it launches the standard Nokia dialler which tells you what phone number it's dialling, you can hit 'end call' if it's not what you wanted.
As this is a test release, I'd appreciate any feedback and/or suggestions you might have.
Feel free to distribute the app to other people but you are not allowed to charge for it.
