OK, I fancy pensioning off my museum piece of a Nokia 3310 for a Nokia 1208. I'm on ASDA Mobile.
Unlocked 1208's are £24.97 in ASDA. But a (presumably) locked Vodafone one is only about £13.
So, is there anything stopping me getting the Vodafone one, getting an unlock code for about £3, unlocking it and swapping SIMs?

The ASDA SIM may work without being unlocked, since they run off Vodafone. It's always worth a shot I suppose** Total debt: £6950.82 ± May NSDs 1/10 **** Fat Bum Shrinking: -7/56lbs **
**SPC 2012 #1498 -£152 and 1499 ***
I do it all because I'm scared.

With the Voda one do you not need to purchase a minimum £10 topup too, or is it £3 + £10 topup? Also, many retailers stock unlocked phones, ie CPW and all their subsidiaries, so you may not need to unlock.0

Thanks, guys. I will have closer look at the Vodafone one. As you say, if my ASDA Mobile SIM works, it's a bonus.
I can't see how they can demand that you buy a £10 top-up - you might just be getting it for emergencies only. If they do, that could be a bit of "show-stopper".
But the basic ploy, of getting the obviously subsidised network handset, getting an unlocking code and swapping SIM cards, is sound. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.
