we have recently moved into rented accomodation with 3 small kids(1 a baby) and the place is really nice but it has this stupid white cream waffel carpet everywhere and we have only been here a month and it is getting grubby already, I have tried food drinks etc only in the dining area, the room is split into two and the carpet is throughout but despite my best efforts it is not looking great. I cant afford to buy a rug at the moment and dont want to hire a vax etc every month. Has anyone any ideas to restore my sanity? Any help would be very greatly appreciated. by the way if you are wondering why we were stupid enough to move in here it was because we relocated to derby from wales and could not look at the house before we came!

I think Bissel cleaners are brilliant. You can get them relatively cheap now too.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Quick Grabbit, Freebies, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning and the UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.

Hello calmgirl,
can't really think of anything other than a vax which is something you don't want to do..how long do you think you will be renting for, if it is a long term thing you may be better to invest in one or you could hire the rug Dr (something else you didn't want to do) or get laminate or vinyl..sorry not much use..i have cream carpets throughout 2 bed property and i have a vax 1 son his GF and 2 indoor cats it works a treat...
Hopefully a real clever cookie will be here soon to help

i just used my normal washing powder (which is a non bio) and put a small cupfull in a jug and mixed it with water before putting it in the water part of my vax, i then topped up the rest of the bottle with water and away i went, it also doesnt bubble up in the collection tank. if it helps i just have the vax rapide power jet, saveds a fortune on what i used to use (the rug dr stuff i never liked the vax carpet cleaning shampoo myself)DFW nerd club number 039'Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts' :money: i will be debt free aug 2010
