Hi Sharon
Welcome to MSE.
I take it you have written to the bank and asked for your statements, Have you received these back yet?
Also are you claiming under the hardship rule, do you have priority debts, rent/mortgage arrears/council tax/utility bills etc etc.
Let us know and we can advise you on how to proceed, depending on the bank that you are with, the charges will look somwthing like this on a statement.
4 May 09 INSTANT OVERDRAFT REQUEST FEE - PAID ITEM CARD PAYMENT TO XTRA ON 2009-04-04 35.00
13 Nov 08 INSTANT OVERDRAFT.

hi thank you for the advice
yes i phoned my bank asking them for 6 years of bank statement's still not got them yet im with natwest .
i would say yes im clameing under the hardship rule as im a single mum with 3 children and sometimes they have bank charged me when it has hardly left me anything i mean last week i got bank charged for a 2pound overdraft when it was not even my fault i tried to explain it was my son's birthday and if i could pay it the next month so i could get my son something but they would not have any of it .
(
any help in getting my charges bk i would be very thankfull0 -
Ok no problem, you said that you have asked the bank to send you the statements, they do take around 40 days and you must not wait a day longer.
Write down the date you requested them and 40 days from then is their deadline.(keep copy of the letter you sent if you have sent one) If you haven't sent a letter asking for the statements, I would do so and pay the £10, even if the bank say they will order them for you.
Can you not get these online to speed up the process??
I will not baffle you with next steps but as Nat said, have a good look on the two links about claiming, there are loads of people here to help you so do not worry.
What I would say though is have a good look at the hardship cases on here and ask lots of questions as the banks are mega strict on this.
Nat-Natweststaffmember, I am sure will help you alot with Natwest.
Oopsy I forgot to add, when you get your statements give us a shout and we will let you know the next stage

And 6 years back? I don't think so. Under the FSA Waiver on bank charges the clock stopped for 6 years at the date of the announcement which was 27th July 2007 so bank statements from 27th July 2001 to present day is what they have to provide

For a hardship claim you MUST meet specific criteria. I have listed a few as below .I am currently experiencing financial difficulties due to [select from a loss of employment / disability / serious illness / imprisonment / a relationship breakdown / the death of a partner / starting a lower paid job / needing to take parental care leave, Credit card/bank charges continuously,Overdrawn by at least £500 in the last 6 months, arrears or rent/mortgage/utility etc etc.
The list is not exhaustive though, but as I said male sure you get the statements and record everything that is ever said to you or sent through the post.
You will get there xAbbey Claim 1 - WON £2300 Inc Interest :rotfl:

Hi Sharon
You need to send the Data Protection Act Request letter to the bank, ignore what they said to you.
You can claim for July 2001 until todays date-so these are the statements that you need.
The letter is in the link below, just type in to your browser if doesn't link

When was your account opened with the bank? If it was before 2001 then that is when they can send them out.sharonxkids wrote: »thank you natwest staff member
