Tesco deliveries here are absolutely dreadful. I have had shopping left in the middle of the road (yes, where cars go) as the driver roared off into the night - probably on a promise. It used to be a wonderful surprise to see how the delivery actually compared to the order. No amounts of pleadings, threats or cajoling could convince Tesco that no substitutions meant no substitutions.

Sainsburys deliveries have been trouble free so far, the drivers are lovely and pleasant and will help you with the bags which I never heard of Tesco doing. I have had no horrible surprises and the one time that they were late (one hour time slot, not two hour) I got a ten pound voucher. Also, for the items I buy, Sainsbury works out cheaper according to mysupermarket.com.

kazzah60 - it may be worth seeing if Sainsbury is slightly better for you, or Asda. I think it does depend on the area, so your Mr S may not be as nice as my Mr S but it has to be worth a try. And I have heard good things about Mr A. Good luck.

Considering you have to sign for the shopping its stupidty to accept shopping without first making sure its put in a place that you want. If the shopping had been left in the road then surely you should have left it then and complained to Tesco your shopping hadn't arrived. If you signed for it and then it was left in the road then its your silly fault for signing for it before your happy with it.

teco so big now, guess its hard to reach someone who cares- unless its good (or reakky bad) for their PR / profits..

may be worth reporting to local trading standards / police, as attempted fraud..?

Actually my experience was that the driver INSISTED that you sign before unloading - SOP then with Tesco - and all I got that day was a few grunts. For some reason I haven't shopped with them for some time.

Before that I usually managed to get the bags on the pavement before they fled. I certainly didn't have a chance to check what was in the bags or anything sensible like that.

Re the bit in bold - I am not quite that bad yet! I like to think I am still on nodding acquaintance with normal behaviour. Though I have giggled at the thought of my neighbours ploughing through my bananas and eggs that would have been in the middle of the road! Changing the shopping delivery firm achieved the result I wanted.

I have to say that my Tesco deliveries are always perfect and bang on time. I live in a ground floor flat and they will always deliver my shopping through the lounge window - at my request. If any subs have happened, they always tell me before any shopping is handed over and I sign once everything has been given to me. Been using them for over 3 years and never a problem - hope I am not tempting fate by saying that now!
Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.

It must be regional then - I have seen ASDA drivers around where I live tearing through the residential streets at way over the speed limit in their vans. You could tell one was shifting the way it reacted as it hit bumps in the road - I rang up to complain to Asda as it was hammering straight past my daughters primary school as the pre school kids were walking to school for the afternoon slot -
They were given the reg number of the van but they started going on about how the van "wasn't on their system" and may belong to a local contractor they use -
Don't try to teach a pig to sing - it wastes your time and annoys the pig
