No contact from buyer??

Options
Hi
I am looking for some advice please. My OH sold some items on EBay at the weekend. 4 items in total. Trying to get some funds for our holidays!3 were bought and paid for straight away. The 4th item had 2 bidders. One from a person who was selling the exact same item at a buy it now price (He/she had 2 for sale) and the winning bidder. The winning bidder has 36 positive feedbacks saying instant payment received etc.

I sent the invoice on Saturday thanking them for bidding and winning the item and have had no response. They did put a bid on the item on Sat. I thought maybe being the weekend they were busy.By last night I still have had no contact from them. I sent them an email and asked if they could pay soon please as were are going away on Saturday for two weeks and I felt this was too long for them to wait to receive the item. I have still had no response. What should I do? I am genuinely going away on Saturday and will not be back till 5th Sept. I did not think to put that on my EBay sales as payment was by Paypal and if paid I felt I had enough time to post as I did with the previous 3 items.
Apart from not have the money for our holidays I wonder how long are you suppose to give buyers to pay for the item? I am more a buyer than a seller on EBay and will definitely remain that way. It is too stressful :)
Any advice please from the experts :)

eBay allows buyers seven days to pay, regardless of what you want or stipulate in your listing, before you raise a NPB dispute.

It seems as though a lot of people are selling on before they complete the initial purchase these days.

Not a lot you can do until the seven days I'm afraid.

The buyer has 7 days to pay. If they do not on the 8th day open a non paying dispute through paypal

Unfortunately you have been a bit tight on your time frames, I would generally suggest that all auctions finish at least 8-9 days before you are due to go away.

All you can do is wait to see if they pay this week.

Many thanks for all your very helpful replies. So if the auction ended on Saturday the buyer could still pay by this Saturday. As we leave at midday on Saturday we could make the post office that morning. But if the buyer pays later in the day I unfortunately will not be able to post it until we return on 05th Sept.Could this be a problem?? I did not realise buyers had 7 days to pay.

This could effect your feedback. If I was you and you dont hear anything by Thursday. Apologise and just inform them that you will have problems posting if they leave paying untill Saturday.

If your going to do any more selling I recomend looking at the ebay Terms and conditions and the Paypal ones and then have a look at the sticky at the top of the forum.

Selling neednt be stressfull if you plan and know the correct procedures

It isn't necessarily a problem. You have told your buyer that you will be away so if he really wants the item he could pay for it this week and have it sent before he goes.

You won't be able to open an NPB before you go though as you can't do that for a full 7 days and I assume it was sold in the evening?

The problems really are that he could pay Saturday evening and have a paypal item not received claim open a week after that which you won't be around to respond to. He can also leave a negative.

Hopefully though he will just pay up this week and all will be well.

Many thanks again for all the very helpful advice. I have learned a lot tonight :)
Good point Cyberbob I will wait and see if there is any contact by Thursday. Also if I sell again I will make sure and read up more before I do.

Yes Soolin it was Sat evening when the auction ended. Hopefully seller will pay by the end of the week and then I can post it in time.

Again many thanks for all the helpful replies. Much appreciated!
  • Is there anyone you could ask to post it out for you if they did pay while you are away?
If you had a way of finding out they have paid of course.

Yes Cupcake I have thought of that! I am going to my daughter in Ireland so I will have access to a computer and could check if it has been paid. I will see what the week brings and if all fruit fails will try and organise someone to post it for me if payment is made late on Saturday. Many thanks for all the very helpful replies.
